Maxwell Konadu’s side came from behind to draw 1-1 with Bofoakwa before beating them on penalties to win the FA Cup at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Bofoakwa made a bright start to the game and made their early dominance count when they opened the scoring through Richard Dzikoe in the 21st minute.

While Nsoatreman emerged from the break a better side, they struggled to create clear-cut chances as the Hunters defended resolutely to protect their lead.

However, the pressure from Konadu’s side ultimately paid off when Sadat Mohammed scored to make it 1-1 deep into added time, forcing extra time and later penalties.

Nsoatreman scored all five of their spot-kicks but Bofoakwa missed one of theirs, with the former going on to win the shootout 5-4 to lift their first-ever FA Cup.

Konadu had earlier said his side was desperate to play in Africa, and described the final against Bofoakwa as a battle.

“For us, this is not just a final but a battle for a ticket to play in the CAF Confederations Cup next season. We are ready to give Ghanaians an exciting game on Sunday and cap it with a win to realise our dream. We know Bofo will not come easy but we can’t afford to let a ticket to the CAF Confederations Cup slip,” he said before the game.

Meanwhile, Nsoatreman’s triumph means they will be representing Ghana in next season’s CAF Confederations Cup.

The Bono-based side will be aiming to emulate Dreams FC, who went all the way to the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup last season after winning the FA Cup.
