GFA relieves Kwesi Appiah of his job as Black Stars coach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dissolved the technical teams of all national teams, including the Black Stars headed by James Kwesi Appiah.

Kwesi Appiah's contract with the Black Stars expired in December and the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) decided not to extend it.

Appiah on his second stint with the Black Stars took over from Israeli Avram Grant in 2017. He was in charge of the team as Ghana witness their worst Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) campaign since 2006 in Egypt- exited in the round of 16.

He wasn't the only coach affected by the overhaul by the new GFA in their quest to revamp the technical teams of the national teams. The decision affects both male and female national teams

A statement from the GFA reads "The GFA extends its appreciation to all coaches and members of the respective national teams for their contributions to our national teams and Ghana football.

"We wish them all the best in their endeavors".

Kwesi Appiah will leave office with his entire backroom staff namely CK Akunnor, Stephen Appiah, Richard Kingson, etc.
