The National Coordinator of the 2016 NDC Campaign, Kofi Adams has mounted a spirited defence for President Mahama’s alleged sharing of monies on his campaign trail ahead of the December polls.
“The President is just like any other person and a Ghanaian so he’s free to give gifts to people. There is nothing wrong with him doling out money to people, if indeed he did that, Kofi Adams said.

The camera did not capture what exactly the paper-like item was, but many believe that the president was probably sharing money to the traders.

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah has since denied such claims, saying President Mahama could have been sharing leaflets and not cash.
But Mr. Adams has insisted that there is nothing wrong if the president shared money with the market women.
“He’s been sharing monies sometimes maybe it is because of the timing that we’re judging him wrongly, he told Kasapa FM in an interview.

“Politics is limiting the pride in our culture as one people where one can easily attend to a brother’s need. This is part of our culture and we must not throw these things away because of politics,” he added.
A pre-election survey conducted by the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) and released this August shows the governing National Democratic Congress is the most guilty of buying votes ahead of the 2016 elections in December.
A total of 51% of Ghanaians surveyed believes the John Mahama-led government has been buying vote followed closely by Nana Akufo-Addo's New Patriotic Party with 32%.
Both the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have since denied the claims in the report.
