Tamale chiefs support Minister's challenger

Despite their level of influence and wealth, none of the three Member of Parliament in the Tamale Metropolis, including Hon. Haruna Iddirsu (Tamale South MP) Hon. Inusah Fuseini (Tamale Central MP) and Hon Alhassan Dahaman (Tamale North MP) has ever supported the Dakpema Education Fund.
 
 

The Chief of Tamale Naa Dakpema Alhaji Alhassan Dawuni has expressed disappointments on the level of lack of interest in educational development by some opinion leaders including members of parliament in the Tamale Metropolis.

The Dakpema fumed that, it is so sad that none of the members of parliament in the Tamale Metropolis have contributed into the Dakpema Education Fund to help support needy students to further their education and therefore urged delegates on the upcoming NDC primaries to votes for people who have their best interest.

Sadly, the fund is being run through individual donations mostly out of the Tamale metropolis.

The Tamale Chief made these assertions when one of the aspiring NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Tamale Central, Mr Engineer Ibrahim Seidu donated an amount of Five Thousand Ghana Ceids (GHC 5.000.00) to the Dakpema Education Fund.

Mr. Ibrahim Seidu made the donation when he paid a courtesy call on the chief of Tamale to formerly inform him of his interest to contest the NDC’s Tamale Parliamentary Primaries and also to welcome him back from Pilgrims in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The Chief of Tamale noted that, though education is the bed rock of every development however people of higher status are not willing to support or invest into education and wonders why beneficiaries of education are turning their backs on the very institution that made them.

Naa Dakpema Alhaji Alhassan Dawuni expressing his profound gratitude and appreciation to the NDC Parliamentary hopeful urged him to go for ‘Gold’ in the primaries to champion education development in the metropolis.

He said, the donation by the NDC Parliamentary aspirant is a special one that will go a long way to support the Dakpema Educaion Fund.

The Chief of Tamale said the Dakpema Education Fund was established in 2009 and the main purpose was to have an auxiliary funds to take care of brilliant but needy students who have qualified to enter into tertiary institutions but unable to do so due to financial constraints.

He said, the Dakpema Education Fund since its inception has helped so many needy students to gain admission into the tertiary institutions.

He hinted that, there are so many needy students on their list to enter into various educational institutions but unfortunately funds are not forth coming, stressing that, educating every child is a collective responsibility of all and sundry.

The Chief of Tamale however indicated that, he was not surprised of the benevolence of the Tamale Central parliamentary hopeful, saying that, Mr. Engineer Ibrahim Seidu is a generous man, a philanthropist who has helped so many people in life.

“He is also from a family of professors, doctors and engineers and they always want to see the north placed in its proper position”. He stated

The Chief of Tamale therefore appealed to the other aspirants and incumbents to emulate the examples of Mr. Engineer Ibrahim Seidu.

The NDC aspiring Parliamentary Candidate, Mr. Engineer Ibrahim Seidu on his part, assured the Chief of Tamale of his preparedness of adding more to the fund to help augment efforts of the government in providing scholarships to needy students in the Tamale Metropolis.

He stated that, he will collaborate with palace of the Dakpema and other chiefs in Tamale to ensure that every child gets the best of education.

Mr. Ibrahim Seidu again assured the Tamale Chief of running a fair and clean campaign devoid of insults and rancor in the upcoming NDC primaries, adding that, his ultimate goal is to bring development to the doorstep of the people.
