Yoo-Naa heads to Yendi ahead of Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani's funeral

The head of the Andani Royal family, Yoo-Naa Abukari Mahama VII, has announced that he is relocating to Yendi ahead of the final funeral rites of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II.

In a statement, the Yoo-Naa, who is also the Chief of Savelugu, invited members of the family, friends and sympathizers who wish to follow him to Yendi, the traditional capital of Dagbon, to assembly at his palace and at the Regional House of Chiefs.

The announcement comes after the Abudu Royal family performed the final funeral rites of the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV in line with the roadmap for peace in Dagbon.

Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV's funeral was held from December 14 to 28 in line with the Dagbon chieftaincy impasse Mediation Committee's timelines.

It is now the turn of the Andanis to perform the funeral rites of Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai II from January 4 to18, 2019.

Meanwhile, the Boling-Lana Abdulai Mahamudu has vacated the Old Gbewaa Palace after performing the funeral of Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV.

The Abudu family led by the Regent of Diare, Abukari Abdulai, handed over the keys and a letter to the Yendi Municipal Security Council.

He is reported to have relocated to the Dugu House which is about 120 metres away from the reconstructed Old Gbewaa Palace.
