The referendum came off successfully in all areas, although the counting process was extended to Friday morning (today).
Provisional results indicate that out of the total 207,343 votes cast in the Savannah area of the Northern region, 206,350 voted YES, representing 99.7 per cent, with only 647 voting NO, representing 0.3 per cent.
The proposed North East region from the Northern region also saw a total of 205,121 YES votes (99.8%) in favour of the new region while 447 voted NO.
In the Brong Ahafo region, 448,545 voters representing 99.5 per cent of the total votes cast voted YES for the Bono East region to be created as against 1,384 people, representing 0.3 per cent going for NO.
Meanwhile, 99.67 per cent of the voters endorsed the creation of the Ahafo region after 276,763 voted YES.
Those who voted against the creation of the Ahafo region were only 675 representing 0.24 per cent of the total votes.
For the proposed the Western North region, 22,048 voted YES as against 751 voting NO.
