The Abudu royal family just finished the funeral rites of their late Overlord. It is the turn of the Andanis to do the same for their late Overlord. These terms were agreed as part of the peace process mediated by the Asantehene-led Committee of Eminent Chiefs.
Though Mr. Saeed failed to disclose who the interested investors are, he revealed that “the investors have made their minds clear to come in and invest heavily”.
He said there was an unprecedented level of interest shown by the corporate entities.
Speaking to members of the Northern Region Keep Fit Clubs Association on Saturday, 29 December 2018 in Tamale during the launch of their end-of-year Sports Festival, the minister said he cannot quantify in monetary terms the value of peace that the Dagbon roadmap has brought to the people and the entire country.
He expressed excitement about the successful completion of the funeral rites of the late Ya Na Mahamadu Abdulai IV by the Abudus, who are expected to vacate the Gbewa Palace on today, Saturday 29 December 2018 to allow the next funeral rites of the late Ya Na Abdulai Yakubu Andani II to be performed by the Andani royal family beginning 4 January 2019.
Commenting on the creation of the proposed Savannah and North East regions, Mr Saeed noted that he was of the firm belief that the move will reduce poverty in that part of the country and improve the local economy there. He was also optimistic that the intermittent conflicts in the area would be reduced drastically.
“If the size of a region is very small, the security will have the opportunity to manage and combat crime efficiently and effectively. If you cannot handle a bigger thing, strategically, it’s good you take smaller parts to handle; that one you can see efficiency and effectiveness in your delivery,” he observed.
