Stop impregnating our girls - Cape Coast chief warns UCC students

The Amamoma chief said many of the young women who end up getting impregnated by the male students are later abandoned to their fate.

Nana Yartel III believes the move will deter the male students of the university from impregnating young ladies of the town.

He said many of the young women who end up getting impregnated by the male students are later abandoned to their fate.

Many of the fatherless children are currently roaming the streets to fend for themselves, the chief said.

“One of the students impregnated a young lady in this town and escaped. When we found him and tried to get him to marry the girl, we realised that he was married. The best thing we could do was to get him to take care of the child,” Nana Yartel said in Fante.

He made this known during his 20th-anniversary fund-raising ceremony to construct skills training centre for the people of the town.

The chief used the opportunity to call on young women who are school dropouts and want to learn a trade but have no financial support to forward their names for support.
