Takoradi and its surroundings in the Western region were submerged Monday after about hours of a heavy downpour.
The flood broke into people’s homes, stores and offices, destroying properties and leaving many stranded.

The rains have also disrupted healthcare delivery as some hospitals at Takoradi.
Areas such as Effia, Round Pavellion (market circle), Mankessim white house were badly affected.
According to reports, the flood was mainly due to human activities as a result of building on water ways.

This is the second time Takoradi got flooded in the year 2017.
The entire community in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis was submerged rendering all residents homeless following early Tuesday morning’s downpour on May 23, 2017 and left most roads in the Metropolis impassable by both vehicles and pedestrians.
