A 38-year-old driver was on Wednesday dragged to the Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling and impregnating his 14-year-old daughter at Musuku, near Dome in Accra.

He was granted bail in the sum of GHȼ50,000.00 with three sureties to reappear on March 20, 2017.
Facts of the case
The prosecutor, Chief Inspector Evans Kesse told the court that the complainant in the case is the victim’s uncle.
He said the accused, Tetteh and his wife were separated, as a result of which Tetteh resided at Dome in Accra, while his ex-wife and his daughter stayed at another suburb of Accra.
He said Tetteh’s daughter often visits his father for money for her upkeep.
Thus, on December 31, 2016, the victim went to her father’s house as usual for some money.
“Tetteh took advantage of her visit and convinced his daughter to be his girlfriend since the mother was no more with him. After telling her that, he had sexual intercourse with her the same day,’’ Chief Inspector Kesse said.

The girl did not inform anyone about the incident but had to do so when the alleged act resulted in a pregnancy.
He said the girl informed her mother about her ordeal and indicated that her father was responsible for her pregnancy.
Chief Inspector Kesse said: “The uncle, on hearing the information, lodged a complaint with the Domestic Violence & Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Tesano Police and Tetteh was arrested.”
