Police arrest alleged narcotics woman

Police have arrested a 32-year-old woman for possessing 18 wrappers of a whitish substance suspected to be narcotics.

The suspect, Christiana Hendricks, was picked up last Thursday when she was travelling from Accra to Winneba along with her husband and daughter, Daily Guide reports.

Winneba Crime Officer, ASP Rev John Agbemabiese said the suspect, upon reaching Gomoa Mpota stopped and alighted from the vehicle, pretending that she had run out of fuel.

He said the woman’s husband gave her a gallon to go and buy some fuel. The suspect then boarded a KIA truck but was stopped by the police patrol team when she got to Winneba junction, ASP Agbemabiese said.

The suspect subsequently transferred the whitish substance into her daughter’s pocket, but the police swooped upon her at that point.

The police conducted a search on her and found the 18 wrappers of the whitish substance.

According to ASP Rev John Agbemabiese, the police later conducted a search of her home and retrieved items including Dell laptop, Lenovo laptop, HP palmtop computer, Apple table top computer, and a Samsung Galaxy phone.

Other items retrieved were a Sony digital camera, Samsung and Nokia mobile phones, car tape recorder, 26 inches Blaupunkt LED television, as well as four telecommunications modems all suspected to be stolen.

The suspect has since made an appearance at a Magistrate Court and has been remanded to appear again on a new date.

The whitish substance has also been taken to the Forensic Laboratory for analysis.

Police have however launched a manhunt for the woman’s husband who is currently on the run.
