BoG Governor under intense pressure to resign

The vice chairman of the Eastern Regional wing of the New Patriotic Party is calling on President Akufo Addo to replace the BoG governor.

The position of the governor of the Central Bank has been under criticisms since the New Patriotic Party came into power.

Eastern Regional wing of the NPP has called on President Akufo-Addo to relieve the governor of the Central Bank Dr. Ishahaku Nashiru of his post.

This they believe will cause some level of stability to the cedi.

Vice chairman of the NPP in eastern region Alhaji Umar Bodinga says the current governor has the tendency of sabotaging the government since he identifies with the opposition New Democratic Congress.

Former president John Dramani Mahama appointed Dr. Ishahaku as acting Governor of the Central Bank of Ghana after the resignation of the then governor Dr. Kofi Wampah.

According to the NPP chairman, the cedi depreciation is a deliberate attempt by the NDC to make the New Patriotic Party government unpopular.

“That is the reason why at the peak of the elections when NDC was about to leave power, president Mahama brought Dr. Ishahaku to be governor of Bank of Ghana. The Cedi is depreciating because of the diabolic agenda of NDC member being the governor.”

He is therefore calling on President Akufo Addo to replace the current governor with a competent person who will put in place fiscal measures to make the Cedi appreciate.
