South Korean tech giant Samsung has announced two new flagship devices – the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5.

The announcement was made at an event in New York, during which the company also announced that its smart wallet service SamsungPay would be going lie in South Korea on August 20.

Samsung also said the SamsungPay service would be available in the US by August 28, with the UK, Spain and the rest of the world coming online at unspecified dates.

Also, the Galaxy Note would not be available in Europe for the time being, a decision which the company says is purely for marketing reasons.

The Galaxy Note comes with a stylus - which Samsung says makes it better for productivity tasks – just like its brethren from older generations. The Note 5 however, now has a metal edge and a glass back for a more “premium” feel.

Rather than have an “Edge” version of the Galaxy Note 5, Samsung is instead targeting people who would like a phablet with a curved screen with the Galaxy Edge 6+ - which comes with the same in house Exynos processor as the normal S6 Edge, but has a larger screen, is more scratch resistant and has an extra GB of RAM for a total of 4GB.

Other features of the new devices include a button in the camera app that lets activates a “live broadcast” feature which lets the device record 1080p high definition video’s, upload to YouTube and share with selected users.

Also, the devices support Ultra High Quality Audio which promises less sound distortion when files saved in the codec are upscaled.

The devices will be available for sale from August 21.
