Since 2021, the self-taught fashion designer has blended her love for fashion, music, and animation with the ambiance from Accra’s central market, where she finds the perfect fabrics to fuel her creativity and innovative designs around the female form.
Artphits is the brainchild of Valentina’s passion for love and fashion despite beginning as an artist. The name “Artphits” is a portmanteau for “art” and “outfit,” sparking wholesome discussions on social media with its striking designs and concepts. Beyond aesthetics, the proudly Ghanaian brand is committed to sustainability, incorporating repurposed materials into some of its creations.
While Artphits specializes in custom pieces, everyday items like the Paisley tote bag and Tappie shorts/pants have gained widespread attention. These have helped catch the attention of various artists and public figures, including music artists Freda Rhymz and Moliy, graffiti artist/model Majorskyscrapa, TV3’s Martess of Perfect Match, and Xtra and TV3's M. Martin Marvin (aka People’s Martin).
In a country where a “one-of-a-kind” fashion wasn’t always prioritized, Artphits wants to be the driving force for change. Valentina is currently working to launch the brand's first official collection after several years of garnering experience and confidence in the industry. She encourages everyone to anticipate the excitement that awaits, labeling it as her “boldest” yet.
Just a year ago, Valentina Duffour was engaged in small-scale manufacturing for emerging and established brands, paving the way for rising designers to embrace custom and unique designs. Now, she is redefining Accra’s fashion trends through Artphits. Her journey reflects her passion and is a snapshot of Ghana’s evolving fashion landscape, making her brainchild one to watch in the coming years.
