A 32-year-old man from India recently faked old age and disability and attempted to fly to the US before he was finally busted by security officials at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Jayesh Patel told officials of India’s Central Industrial Security Force that he was moving to the US with his family to start a new life there but he was not qualified for a visa, so he chose to acquire one through criminal means.
He got an agent who also though an aide procured a fake visa for him.
As if that was not criminal enough, he employed a makeup artiste to paint his hair and beard white to make him look 81 years old.
On the day of the illegal travel, Jayesh wore a long white dress, a white pair of trousers, covered his head with a white headgear to match before finishing it with a pair of thick eyeglasses.
The disguise was so carefully done that the young man successfully “tricked the initial security check and got his immigration cleared” before he was eventually found out.
“A man named Jayesh Patel reached Terminal-3 of IGI (Indira Gandhi International Airport) airport on Sunday on a wheelchair posing as an elderly man. He even tricked the initial security check and got his immigration cleared. CISF was suspicious about him as his voice didn’t match his age. Despite grey hair, his skin seemed to be quite young as there were hardly any wrinkles on his face,” a spokesperson of the Central Industrial Security Force is quoted as saying.
His fake passport bearing Amrick Singh, born in Delhi in February 1938 also helped the trick.
What gave him away though was his sexy voice, smooth face and the black root of his hair.
“His beard was grown and hair was dyed grey. He was made to wear a pair of thick glasses and a turban. He was also instructed to walk like an elderly person. We’ve never seen a similar case at the Delhi airport before.”
Upon suspicion, he was asked to stand up but he lied that he could not get up from the wheelchair he was being moved around in.
As soon as the officials offered to help him stand up, he got up hesitantly.
