International Men's Day (IMD), according to Wikipedia, is a global holiday celebrated annually on November 19 to recognize and celebrate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of men.
The aim of the occasion is to celebrate boys' and men's achievements and contributions, in particular for their contributions to nation, union, society, community, family, marriage, and childcare.
The broader and ultimate aim of the event is to promote basic humanitarian values, as well as awareness towards men's issues.
The first time it was celebrated in Ghana was in 2009, hosted by Ghana Fatherhood Initiative Foundation.

The occasion was marked by a formal event that saw various speakers addressing the public addressing the and included a ceremony of donating books to several schools in the Ablekuma sub-district in Accra.
As far back as the 1960s, men "have been agitating privately to make 23 February International Men's Day, the equivalent of 8 March, which is International Women's Day".
Then, on 7 February 1992, Thomas Oaster inaugurated the project of International Men's Day which was conceived one year earlier on 8 February 1991.
The project was re-initialised in 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago.
Although International Women's Day, (March 8) is recognized by the United Nations, it hasn’t the International Men’s Day. Instead, it observes World Toilet Day on November 19 which mostly overshadows the Men’s Day celebration.
