A Kwasankrom community in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese (AAK) District in the Central region have reportedly rejected an ultra-modern water pump provided them because the District Chief Executive (DCE), Madam Felicia Aba Hagan and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Elvis Morris Donkoh, are both members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The project costing GH¢ 20,000.00 was built to provide the community with potable drinking water as they have been without good drinking water for years.
According to Adomonline.com, the people of Kwansakrom-numbering about 500 inhabitants-drink water from a nearby stream full of impurities which serves as their main source of drinking water. They share the stream with their livestock.
Their rejection of the potable water, especially on a partisan basis, infuriated the DCE so much that she instructed her team to lock the water pump with a padlock.
Meanwhile, the MP Elvis Morris Donkoh took his trouble to educate his constituents on the need to avoid politicizing the development of the community.

“Whichever party that you belong to, whether National Democratic Congress, NPP or Convention People’s Party, the main focus of these political parties is to help our communities develop so if NPP is in power, join hands for the development of the community,” the unhappy lawmaker told his people.
Five communities including Old Odonase, Asebufokrom, Perekyerekye, Adukwakrom and Kwansakrom benefitted from the water pump project which is aimed at giving respite to the people.
What the people of Kwasankrom did not know is the fact that they are entitled to good drinking water and other amenities to make them live comfortably. It is their own tax money that was used to provide them with water, so there was no need to reject it regardless of who spearheaded it.
