Esther Nanjala from Bungoma, a town in Bungoma County of Kenya is reported to have sold the said cow on Thursday, August 29 to buy a ticket for Churchill show scheduled for the next day.
Her husband, Gabriel Wenani only knew about the sale when three middle-aged men stormed his house to pick the cow, saying his wife had sold it to them the previous day.
According to Tuko.co.ke, the news of Esther Nanjala selling the lactating cow unilaterally triggered a fight between her husband resulting in serious exchange of blows.
"I was shocked to be woken by these three men claiming they have come to pick their cow," Angry Gabriel Wenani is quoted as saying.
A neighbour identified as Joshua, who witnessed the incident is reported as saying that the cow in contention belonged to Esther herself which she bought after receiving money from a women's group two years ago.

"The wife has been telling us for a while now that she owned the cow which she bought with chama money," he said.
Apparently, the animal belonged to the woman, but it became the entire family’s property and served as a major source of income for them. It was probably the reason why Gabriel also felt strongly that his wife should have sought his consent about the intended sale before going ahead to do same.
Churchill show was scheduled to be recorded on Friday evening, August 30 at Bungoma's Kiwanja Ndege grounds, and it was the first of it's kind to be held in the county, with many dignitaries expected to be in attendance.
After the fight, Esther Nanjala reportedly fled the house with all the money from the sale of the cow, leaving behind her children and husband who was going around searching for her.
