A police report said 65-year-old David Wayne Oliver was arrested at a nearby Starbucks coffee shop after he robbed the Academy Bank in Colorado Springs in the afternoon of Monday, December 30 2019.

After making away with the cash, the grey-bearded man then threw the stolen cash into the air while shouting, “Merry Christmas” to passersby.

The suspect with grey-and-white hair and a full white beard entered the bank and reportedly “threatened the use of a weapon” before escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Colorado Springs television station KKTV reported an eyewitness Dion Pascale as recounting how Oliver stepped outside the bank and started spreading the money “all over the place.”

“He started throwing money out of the bag” while yelling, “Merry Christmas,” told the TV station.

As some rarely law-abiding bystanders retrieved some of the stolen cash and returned it to the bank, Oliver walked to the Starbucks, sat down as if he was waiting for police to arrest him.

Meanwhile, police are reported as saying “thousands of dollars” could not be recovered.

Oliver has since been held on $10,000 bond at the El Paso County jail and is set to make his first court appearance on Thursday, HuffingtonPost reported.
