The short film directed by Makere Cross Thekiso will be screened at the festival in Canada in July 2018, according M.anifest.

He broke the news on his Facebook page Wednesday, October 25, saying: "#BeMyWoman short film officially selected for La Jolla International Fashion Film Festival. Screening July 2018. Dir: Makere Cross Thekiso."

According to Flickafrica, the director initially intended to use the visuals only for the music video he was shooting for the song but once he was on set, he said he realised that the footage he had was so rich in texture and depth, with unmistakable West African contemporary fashion influences.

It was then that he realised that he could also use the footage for a short (fashion) film.

This is how "Be My Woman" was born, out of a decision made on set by the director.

La Jolla International Fashion Film Festival is the first international fashion film festival founded in North America and the world’s largest gathering of fashion filmmakers.
