He was responding to a post by former musician Kwame A-Plus regarding why General E.K Kotoka shouldn’t be celebrated for wrongful overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah.

In the post on Instagram, A-Plus described Gen. Kotoka as ‘Ghana's main problem since independence’ and called Ghanaians ‘ungrateful’ for naming the airport after him.

He shared a photo of Kwame Nkrumah and Kotoka with the caption: “Ghana's main problem since independence is this guy, general EK Kotoka, the guy who led the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah.... I wonder why our airport is still named after him.... It shows that we don't know what we lost or appreciate what Nkrumah did for us. Ungrateful people.”

But reacting to this, Sonnie Badu said Ghana will only enjoy peace if the airport’s name is changed, adding that Kotoka is ‘sitting at the gateway to Ghana’.

He stated: “And he is sitting at the gateway to Ghana ... well you just solved the problem…until the name is changed Ghana will never have their peace... The one who got is independence should have his name at the airport.”

The “Baba” hitmaker is very vocal about issues, ranging from music, religion to politics.
