From 28th June to 2nd July 2024, at Zurak Park in Madina, she will attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the Longest Cooking Lessons by an individual.
This ambitious endeavour aims to showcase the rich culinary heritage of Ghana. The record attempt involves continuous cooking lessons taught to a class of at least 10 students. The record will be measured precisely in hours, minutes, and seconds.
The student count can exceed 10 but must not fall below this number, or the attempt will be invalid. All students who actively participate throughout the event will be awarded certificates.
According to Akua, she wants to promote Ghanaian local cuisine globally. Over the four-day event, she will cover the culinary delights of Ghana's 16 regions, focusing on 4 regions each day. For instance, dishes from the Ashanti Region will be featured, with lessons on preparing staple meals, their health benefits, and regional snacks, lunch, and supper.
Beyond breaking records, Akua's objectives include creating job opportunities and empowering unemployed youth, particularly inmates, by equipping them with valuable culinary skills.
The Ghana Prisons Service has reportedly partnered with Akua Konadu Acheampong. The partnership is expected to identify inmates with a keen interest in culinary skills, to virtually enrol in the class, providing them with practical sessions.
The selected inmates will also be offered startup capital, and ongoing monitoring to ensure the establishment of stable businesses before their release. The lessons will be streamed live for inmates and broadcast on National Television (LS TV), with arrangements to allow inmates to watch without disrupting their routines.
Additionally, daily lunches will be delivered to six prison stations, including Nsawam Male and Female Prisons, Senior Correctional Centre, James Camp Prison, and Akuse Male and Female Prisons during the event.
