The Board of Governors of St Augustine’s College, Cape Coast, has requested that the Ghana Education Service (GES) to rescinds its decision to interdict the headmaster of the school.

According to the Daily Graphic Newspaper a letter they cited says the procedure the GES used in interdicting Joseph Connel were flawed.

The letter which was dated October 17, 2016 and signed by the Board Chairman Rev. Fr. John Manso Hamilton was addressed to the Director General of the GES,

According to the letter an emergency meeting was held with the Headmaster and the accountant where they realised the process that led to Connel’s interdiction was flawed.

It says flaws were detected in the following;

Procedure for the interdiction

Date and time of investigation

Date of the interdiction letter

Breach of Natural Justice

The Regional Director of Education not attending the emergency meeting on the subject but rather choosing to solely nominate someone to represent the Board of Governors in an investigative committee.

The headmaster of St. Augustine College in the Central Region has been interdicted for charging unapproved fees, a deputy education minister, Alex Kyeremeh has confirmed.

The investigation follow complains on social media that the headmaster was taking GHC 430 for newly admitted students.
