Squatters who are inhabiting the shoulders of the tunnel linking East Legon to the Spintex Road in the Greater Accra region have been asked to vacate the area by the next 2 weeks.

This was after some government ministers toured the area on Monday, August 28, 2017.

According to officials their presence there is preventing the smooth construction of a second subway in the area.

The first phase of the construction is almost done but the presence of rental companies, florists and other vendors in the area is preventing constructing of the second phase.

This is because the squatters are occupying the land meant for that purpose.

Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways Anthony Karbo said the squatters must leave for the construction to continue and finish on time.

However, some of the trespassers did not take the caution lightly challenging the authority of the Ministers to ask them to leave.
