According to the former Kotoko striker, three years ago he met with three current Black Stars players in the United States of America (U.S.A) and had a conversation with them regarding the bonuses they request before playing for the national and the players revealed to him that the idea comes from the Ghana Football Association executives.
“Asamoah Gyan, John Painstil and John Mensah and I three years ago we travelled to U.S.A to receive an award. Afterwards I sat down with them and criticised them with respect to their love for the nation because they receive huge sums of money at their clubs but they still want the nation to pay them huge sums of money before wearing the national team jersey.
“They told me that is not the case but the idea is from the Ghana Football Association and if they don’t support the FA’s idea, they will axed at the next Black Stars call up,” he told Prestea based Energy FM.
The winning bonuses of the Black Stars have become a matter of national debate with the current sports ministry administration deciding to slashed down their winning bonuses from $10,000 to $ 8,000.
