Zongo Dev't Ministry discriminatory - NDC MP

Speaking on Joy's Newsfile Saturday, the MP for Tamale Central compare the Zongo Development Ministry to the Savannah Development Authority (SADA) and concluded that the former was created to close the developmental gap between the north and the south while the latter is discriminatory in nature.

The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, has described the creation of the Inner City and Zongo Development Ministry as "discriminatory."

“The president could have asked parliament to pass an Act to formulate the policy like what the NDC did with SADA. But creating a whole ministry for a particular group of people is highly unacceptable and flies in the face of the constitution," the NDC MP said.

President Nana Akufo-Addo on Friday named Boniface Abubakar Saddique as the Minister-designate for Zongo Development.

Explaining the rationale for having a minister for Zongo Development, the president noted that development of the inner cities and Zongos did not become areas of despair, areas of difficulty and areas of social conflict.
