Five persons alleged to have conspired to sell a two-month old baby for GHC 1000 have been arrested by the police in the Ashanti Region.

Mother of the baby, 14, has been identified as Margaret.
According to her, she left the baby in her grandfather's room to perform her house chores after which she couldn't find it.
She later admitted the baby was with a family friend called Abena Gyanpong after interrogation.
Gyanpong said with the help of a taxi driver she stole the baby and sold it to a couple at Atosu.

She further reveals that the baby was sold for 1000 Ghana Cedis and gave the mother 300 Ghana Cedis. The police is said to have gone for the baby and arrested the individuals involved in the sale of the baby.
