Finance Minister-designate, Ken Ofori Atta has reportedly dumped a SUV vehicle for a Toyota Camry instead.
The move has been described by the founder of Danquah Institute, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko as a “bold statement” in line with the government’s resolve to protect the public purse.
The New Patriotic Party in opposition had accused the then National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of mismanaging the country’s scarce resource.

According to the party, the then NDC government neglected the poor and vulnerable in the society and enriched themselves with the country’s resources.
The NPP then assured that when voted into power, it will reverse the trend and ensure that there is fiscal discipline.
As it stands now, the Finance Minister-designate will be using a Toyota Camry instead of his SUV vehicle if parliament approves him.
Parliament’s Appointments Committee is expected to begin sitting from Friday, January 20 to vet nominees of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for ministers.
The Seventh Parliament adjourned on Wednesday to pave way for the vetting exercise.
