The Deputy Minister of Interior, Henry Quartey, is pushing for the regularisation of use of motor bikes for commercial business widely known as ‘Okada.’
Speaking at the public accounts committee Thursday, Mr Quartey cited the use of motorbikes for commercial business in some West African state.

The Ayawaso Central Member of Parliament said Okada “serves a dual purpose” and that it must be legalized.
“In other jurisdictions, probably neighbouring countries around us, motorbikes are used all over,” he said.
“We would want to humbly plead with your august committee, in your report to see how best we can put some measures in place to ensure that there is a balance between the usage of motorbikes in the country.” He added.
He made the comments after Okada riders stormed the Aveyime police station in Ho on Friday after two of their members passed away in an accident in their attempt to escape from the police.
The police were on the streets as part of efforts of clamping down on the activities of Okada riders that flout motor and traffic regulations.
The Okada drivers in their anger besieged the police station and attempted to force their way through.
They burnt some car tyres in front of the police station in the process.
The Police administration has opposed the idea of legalising the Okada business, saying robbers to could advantage of the trade.
