A four-year-old girl has met an untimely death after she was bitten by a dog given her as a birthday present.

According to reports the little girl requested for the puppy as a gift on her birthday, but ironically the gift has rather led to her death at the Saint Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin-Foso in the Central Region.

The little girl from Adansi Swedru who was reportedly playing with the birthday puppy got bitten on the cheek in the course of the fun.

Her father took her to a nearby clinic where a tetanus injection was administered to her.

However, two weeks later, the deceased started behaving strangely, compelling her parents to send her to the Saint Francis Hospital where she was later referred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH) for further treatment.

After some days, the little girl was sent back to the Assin-Foso Hospital where she died on Monday after she was diagnosed of end stage rabies.
