Presidential nominee of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom says he has already started building dams in some parts of the Northern Region.

“Go to Salaga North and ask them, this year we have dug some dams for them. There are villages there today who are now enjoying water.  We did it not because of elections were coming but because we found them in need of water and we gave it to them,” he added.

He, therefore, questioned why the two major political parties (NDC and NPP) are trying to claim ownership over a policy his party is already implementing.

Dr Nduom, therefore, warned Ghanaians to be cautious of politicians who make “fake and empty” promises just to win power.

“Indeed we are in a campaign period and people are looking for votes and so they are prepared to say anything do anything to get your votes.”

NPP’s Presidential nominee Nana Akufo Addo promised to construct one dam for a village in the northern regions if he wins the December polls but the governing NDC later claimed that it has been building dams in those areas already.

However Dr Nduom argues that unlike the NDC and NPP he is not waiting to win power before he executes such plans. For him, this is the more reason electorates should vote for him.

"While they are promising, while others are quarrelling, Papa Kwesi Nduom I’m doing it. I, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, I am a doer and not a promiser," he concluded.
