The Ministry for the Interior has said that Friday, 1st September 2017, which marks the Eid al-Adha festival, is a statutory public holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.

The Eidul-Adha festival is also known as the feast of sacrifice.

It is celebrated annually by Muslims to mark Prophet Abraham’s intended sacrifice of his son in fulfillment of a command from God.

The festival coincides with the Hajj activities currently ongoing in Saudi Arabia.
