Author of the controversial “Natural Science for Primary Schools – Pupil’s Book 1,” Joseph Albert Quarm insist the illustration that the head is used for carrying loads in the textbook is the best example and should be used by pupils and teachers.
“For me I think the point over there is correct,” he said.
“If you are teaching a child who is at primary one; basically he or she does not know anything so the approach so far as a trained teacher we are instructed to use activity based learning method to teach them,” he insisted.
According to Mr. Quarm primary one pupils do not have any knowledge about the head’s ability to think and owes nobody an apology on his illustration.
The Ministry of Education has released a statement discouraging schools in the country from patronising the “Natural Science for Primary Schools – Pupil’s Book 1,” authored by Joseph Albert Quarm.
The Ministry added that the only textbook approved for primary 1 pupils is titled ‘Natural Science for Primary Schools: Activity-Based Pupils’ Book 1” jointly authored by Peter Asiedu, Henric Atta Baa-Yeboah and Ebenezer Agyiri Domptey.
