The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has admitted that he is a corrupt leader.

According to him, the political system in Ghana makes public office holders corrupt adding that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will struggle to fight corruption.

"When people invest in you and you are given office, of course that is one of the reasons why I said His Excellency will have it tough fighting corruption..., because he fought the first world war [Election 2008], second world war [Election 2012] and third world war [2016], sponsored by people," the lawmaker said on Starr Chat show with Bola Ray on Wednesday.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has served notice of his determination to fearlessly fight corruption as his government hastens moves to set up the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

According to him, all cases of corruption and misappropriation of public funds will be independently and thoroughly investigated for the law to take its course.

But the NDC lawmaker said "Is he [President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo] saying that those people are Father Christmas, no. As a country we have to look at this... we should all admit we are all corrupt, its a fact, because of the system."

When asked whether he is corrupt, Alban Bagbin said "yes I am...Look we have Reverends, we have Pastors who go through the system, and they are corrupted."

Speaking on the defeat of the NDC in the 2016 general elections, he said he was not surprised that the party lost because he foresaw the election defeat coming.

According to him, the defeat was bound to happen and advised all party members to take the loss in good stride.
