Pro-NDC group says Mahama is a liability for 2020 elections

The group, which has waded into the ‘civil war’ in the party, said the ex-president remains a liability in 2020 and future elections.

A pro-National Democratic Congress (NDC) group, Bring Back NDC (BBN), has warned against making former president John Mahama the party’s flagbearer for the 2020 polls.

In a strongly worded statement, the group said the “utterances, actions and inactions" of the former president led to the party’s historic defeat in 2016.

It said: “The very utterances, actions, and inactions of Former President John Dramani Mahama led us into this conundrum and he remains an electoral liability in 2020 and the near future.

“Therefore, our victory ahead of 2020 is not guaranteed with him despite the false-starts of the Nana Addo-Bawumia Government.”

BBN, which claims to be a composition of ordinary NDC members across the country, joins a list of new anti-Mahama bodies in the NDC.

The NDC Action Movement, is another group in the NDC that is against the second coming for former president Mahama.

In a series of statement, the group has held that indiscipline and arrogance of power also caused the NDC's defeat.
