Family members of late comedian, Bob Okala, have said the best way he could be honored was if he was given a state burial.

Bob Okala died on Sunday March 16, 2016 shortly after he performed at an event in Koforidua.

His wife and children told Hitz FM that a state burial was the befitting way to recognize the hard work of the comedian. They made this call at an event held at the Arts Centre to honor the late Okala, which was attended by veteran actors and comedians including David Dontoh and Ebenezer Donkor (Katawere).

The family also announced that final funeral rites would be held on May 6 and May 7.

Bob Okala was a household name in Ghana especially during the times of the Key Soap Concert Party theatre series. His antics on stage made him a huge fan favorite.

His death came a few days after he joined a number of the country’s famous actors to march as part of the 59th Independence Day celebrations. The march was a crowd favorite especially with Kenya’s president, Uhuru Kenyatta who was the guest of honor.

While this request is highly unlikely to be met, there may just be a surprise considering the President Mahama is such a big fan.
