Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey has been confirmed as Ghana captain when the Black Stars take on Uganda in their 2018 World Cup qualifier to be played in Kampala on Saturday.
Amartey, who can also play in midfielder, will captain his country for the first time as they play at the Mandela Stadium in Kampala for the crucial qualifier.
He has been named in coach Kwesi Appiah's starting line-up for the match as the captain of the visiting Black Stars side.
Amartey has been rewarded for his discipline, leadership and commitment to national team duties since bursting onto the scene just over two years ago.
Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has bestowed the armband on the Foxes star after injuries to regular skipper Asamoah Gyan and Christian Atsu, who had originally been lined up to deputise.
Ghana face Uganda in their next 2018 World Cup qualifier in Namboole on Saturday and Amartey will also captain the side for their friendly clash against Saudi Arabia that follows next week.
