A source, who was briefed on the investigation and read a translated transcript of the recording from the October 2 killing, <a href="https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2018/12/09/middleeast/jamal-khashoggi-last-words-intl/index.html" id="a82573ac-e490-38af-a43b-8b6fad868cc8"> told CNN </a> that the audio suggests a carefully planned execution, and not a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/saudi-admits-khashoggi-body-double-claim-it-was-for-kidnapping-2018-10?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest" id="3ad4774c-38b6-3838-a60c-196da00ff8a2"> botched interrogation </a> as previously touted by the Saudis.

Descriptions of the tape recounting how Khashoggi suffocated in his final moments have <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/khashoggi-last-words-im-suffocating-turkey-state-media-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest" id="0ad821c3-bfc4-302b-a541-6dd03b88a63c"> previously been reported </a> . But CNN's report on Sunday is the fullest account of the transcript in western media to date.

According to the source, the transcript begins as Khashoggi entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul at around 1:15 p.m. to pick up routine paperwork for his upcoming marriage to fiancée Hatice Cengiz, who was waiting outside for him during the time of the incident.

Khashoggi quickly realizes that something about the situation is off as he recognizes a man waiting inside, identified by CNN's source as Maher Abdulaziz Mutreb, a former colleague and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/maher-abdulaziz-mutreb-saudi-crown-prince-aide-khashoggi-consulate-2018-10?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest" id="921f0088-20c5-306e-a023-7118bb084820"> a prominent aide to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman </a> .

According to the source, Khashoggi asks the man what he's doing there.

"You are coming back," Mutreb tells Khashoggi.

"You can't do that," Khashoggi responds. "People are waiting outside."

Mutreb was also named by Turkish officials as <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/the-15-saudis-suspected-in-alleged-killing-journalist-jamal-khashoggi-2018-10?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest" id="7898a7f3-07fa-38d4-aad7-3357309ce54f"> one of the 15 Saudis </a> suspected to have acted in Khashoggi's murder.

At that point, the dialogue ends, the source said, as several people close in on Khashoggi, who is left gasping for air in his final moments.

"I can't breathe," Khashoggi repeats several times. The transcript reportedly describes screaming and gasps, indicating that Khashoggi was not yet dead.

Other men, including a voice identified by Turkish authorities as Dr. Salah Muhammad al-Tubaiqi, the head of forensic medicine at Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry, can be heard along with Khashoggi's muffled pleas, the source said. The transcript then describes "sawing" and "cutting" that can be heard on the audio tape.

Al-Tubaiqi can be heard telling the team in the room to block out the noise.

"Put your earphones in, or listen to music like me," he said, according to the reported transcript.

Notably, the transcript describes at least three phone calls placed by Mutreb to someone who, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/agent-in-khashoggi-audio-says-tell-your-boss-of-killing-report-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest" id="efb230f2-20e2-31d4-af0d-fbb11f5889c8"> according to previous assessments of the recording </a> , is widely thought to be a senior Saudi official, possibly Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's closest adviser Saud al-Qahtani, or possibly even the crown prince himself. Mutreb reportedly gives the undisclosed person on the other end of the line step-by-step details of what transpired.

"Tell yours, the thing is done, it's done."

Calls for sanctions have grown louder in recent weeks, as details from the investigation into Khashoggi's murder continue to close in on the Saudi leadership.

Last week, Senators from across party lines announced with a " <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/senators-marco-rubio-lindsey-graham-confident-that-crown-prince-was-complicit-in-jamal-khashoggi-murder-2018-12?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest" id="2651a751-09ae-3ad8-ae6e-eaf64d268a03"> high level of confidence </a> " that Prince Mohammed was "complicit" in Khashoggi's murder, and introduced a measure calling for the crown prince to be "held accountable" for a number of human rights abuses.

The move, led by Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Ed Markey (D-MA), Todd Young (R-IN), and Chris Coons (D-DE), pins the blame directly onto the crown prince and hopes to spur the government and the international community to punish him accordingly.

"There is no doubt that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman knew about the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, condoned it, and at worst was actually involved in directing it," Rubio <a href="https://www.rubio.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=0984BAAF-35E7-492A-AB8B-03B01E702DC3" id="f80a03c1-f305-368b-a873-59eb566045fb"> said in a statement </a> Wednesday.

But the resolution is set to face hurdles by the Trump administration, as the president has recently doubled down on his defense of the Saudi crown princeand said the US-Saudi relationship is "paramount" in his decision making.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued warnings of tsunami waves of between 1 and 3 meters (3 and 10 feet) along the Southern Pacific, including in Vanuatu and Fiji.

A friend of Jamal Khashoggi is suing an Israeli company for allegedly providing software used to hack into his phone.

Montreal-based dissident Omar Abdulaziz was <a id="6c8a3f4f-09e5-328e-ac4d-e54f40d645a1" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/saudi-agents-install-smartphone-spyware-to-track-critics-abroad-citizen-lab-2018-10?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> targeted by Israeli cyber intelligence firm NSO Group's Pegasus spyware software </a> , which enables hackers to access messages, photos, microphone, and camera, researchers at Toronto's Citizen Lab found in October.

The 27-year-old previously told Business Insider he did not suspect his phone was being monitored until Citizen Lab reached out to corroborate its hypothesis.

"When they [Citizen Lab] reached out I figured that someone must have been listening to me and reading the conversations between me and my friends and my brothers," he told Business Insider. "Some of them were arrested, and I'm sure hackers had access to everything on my phone."

Abdulaziz and Khashoggi were <a id="c66e8e12-08e0-3d80-aaed-1a5a3efd3a40" href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/secret-recordings-give-insight-into-saudi-attempt-to-silence-critics/2018/10/17/fb333378-ce49-11e8-ad0a-0e01efba3cc1_story.html?utm_term=.32bfa3909ef4"> in communication </a> during the period of time that his phone was allegedly hacked, and he told CNN that the breach may have provided Saudi agents with sensitive information that contributed to Khashoggi's murder.

"The hacking of my phone played a major role in what happened to Jamal, I am really sorry to say," Abdulaziz told <a id="66132a80-e7ca-3e35-a41d-3b4e3ca5b398" href="https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/02/middleeast/jamal-khashoggi-whatsapp-messages-intl/index.html"> CNN </a> . "The guilt is killing me."

On Sunday, Abdulaziz filed a lawsuit in Tel Aviv against the Israeli company, alleging that it broke international law by selling software to the Saudi government used to spy on his conversations with Khashoggi.

"NSO should be held accountable in order to protect the lives of political dissidents, journalists and human rights activists," Abdulaziz's lawyer Alaa Mahajna told CNN.

<a id="5ba72010-3a0c-3c56-a172-217522314708" href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/31/world/middleeast/hacking-united-arab-emirates-nso-group.html"> Two other lawsuits </a> , filed in Israel and Cyprus by citizens of Mexico and Qatar, accuse NSO Group of actively participating in illegal spying.

NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden also spoke firmly against the NSO Group, calling it " <a id="65ee0971-62d3-37d1-a4e0-1ca9b29cc307" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/edward-snowden-israeli-spyware-nso-group-pegasus-jamal-khashoggi-murder-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> the worst of the worst </a> ," a seller of tools "being actively used to violate the human rights of dissidents, opposition figures, activists, to some pretty bad players." He also alleged that the group's technologywas used to help track and eventually kill Khashoggi.

NSO Group told CNN in a statement on Monday that the Abdulaziz suit was "completely unfounded" and "shows no evidence that the company's technology was used" to target his device.

"The lawsuit appears to be based on a collection of press clippings that have been generated for the sole purpose of creating news headlines and do not reflect the reality of NSO's work," it said.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been accused of ordering the plot against Khashoggi. In messages sent between the two activists seen by CNN, Khashoggi likened the crown prince to a "beast Pac man" with an insatiable appetite for victims.

Renowned English broadcaster and natural historian Sir David Attenborough delivered a tough warning about what the future of our planet looks like, during the UN Climate Change Summit in Poland.

Attenborough, known for hosting nature broadcasts including the popular BBC series "Planet Earth," was chosen for the UN's "people's seat," representing those populations most affected by climate change. The summit hoped to spur global action after the 2015 Paris climate accord.

Speaking in Katowice to delegations from nearly 200 nations, Attenborough warned that the world's existence depends on taking swift action to prevent climate change.

"Right now we are facing a manmade disaster of global scale, our greatest threat in thousands of years: climate change," he said.

"If we don’t take action," he continued, "the collapse of our civilizations and the extinction of much of the natural world is on the horizon."

He implored governments of the world to take meaningful action steps to prevent our planet's destruction.

"The world’s people have spoken. Time is running out," he said."They want you, the decision-makers, to act now. Leaders of the world, you must lead. The continuation of civilisations and the natural world upon which we depend is in your hands."

Governments around the world are taking aim at combatting climate change. Over the weekend, <a id="676ce22f-b0bb-3d2a-a4b5-f4c5c505120e" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-us-only-nation-not-to-sign-climate-change-agreement-g20-2018-12?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> 19 G20 member states reaffirmed their commitment to the Paris climate accord </a> – except for the US, which <a id="ed775cb8-b52b-3287-ad54-5db98cb83856" href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/01/climate/trump-paris-climate-agreement.html"> pulled out </a> of the landmark agreement last year.

The Kremlin on Thursday said it was surprised to learn that a meeting between its leader Vladimir Putin and President Donald Trump had been cancelled via a tweet.

Trump and Putin were supposed to meet in Argentina on the sidelines of the G20 summit, which gathers leaders from the world's 20 largest economies.

It would've been the first meeting between the two heads of state since they met face-to-face in Finland with only their translators present in July.

But on Thursday, Trump tweeted that the meeting had been cancelled in response to news that <a id="2a5e1927-0478-3c33-a8ba-8dce21dd9adb" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-ukraine-navy-tensions-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> Russia had fired at several Ukrainian ships </a> on Sunday and were <a id="7144c633-09c2-30ae-a673-cdc831b28571" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ukraine-sailors-captured-during-crimea-clashes-made-bizarre-confessions-russia-tv-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> still holding three Ukrainian sailors </a> .

"Based on the fact that the ships and sailors have not been returned to Ukraine from Russia, I have decided it would be best for all parties concerned to cancel my previously scheduled meeting in Argentina with President Vladimir Putin," Trump wrote.

"I look forward to a meaningful Summit again as soon as this situation is resolved!" he added.

The Kremlin said Thursday's tweet was the first time it was given notice about the abrupt cancellation.

"So far, we have only seen the tweet and media reports," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the state-owned <a id="a80754b9-6348-3f23-a834-ff7444f312e2" href="http://tass.com/politics/1033498"> Tass </a> News Agency. "We have no official information."

Peskov said if the meeting was indeed cancelled, Putin would have "a couple of additional hours" freed up "for useful meetings."

Trump's tweet appeared shortly after he boarded Air Force One to depart for the summit. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters that Trump made the decision after consulting with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, chief of staff John Kelly and national security adviser John Bolton.

Trump said earlier on Thursday that the meeting would " <a id="599137d2-5b29-332b-a658-57110369ccca" href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-g20-summit-trump/trump-says-will-probably-meet-with-putin-at-g20-summit-idUSKCN1NY21A"> probably </a> " still go ahead despite the major escalation of tensions near Crimea.

"They would like to have it. I think it’s a very good time to have the meeting," Trump told reporters before leaving Washington to fly to Buenos Aires.

Tensions remain high in the Sea of Azov — which both Ukraine and Russia share access to — following Sunday's clashes. Ukraine on Monday imposed martial law in parts of the country and <a id="4fbec472-7ba1-39f8-a664-6fa40d138aac" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ukraine-says-russia-preparing-to-launch-large-scale-ground-invasion-martial-law-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> accused Russia of planning a full-scale invasion </a> of the country. Washington Post editor Karen Attiah, who worked with murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi during his time as a contributor for the paper, claimed the Trump administration is helping "cover up" for the Saudi crown prince's "bloody mess."

Attiah, who works as an editor for the Post's Global Opinions section, said in a tweet on Tuesday that recent actions by Trump officials suggest a coordinated cover up by the White House in the wake of Khashoggi's murder.

Attiah cited several examples of US officials distancing themselves from available evidence that reportedly implicates the crown prince in Khashoggi's brutal killing.

Audio evidence supplied by the Turkish government has been circulating around global intelligence agencies, and reportedly sheds light on how the murder took place. The <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cia-mohammed-bin-salman-ordered-jamal-khashoggi-killed-report-says-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest" id="99a8f4a3-c37d-34ad-a54d-d08304d7122d"> CIA </a> <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cia-mohammed-bin-salman-ordered-jamal-khashoggi-killed-report-says-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest" id="171905a2-a454-3580-a7f2-4771edbdef5f"> has determined </a> that Prince Mohammed ordered Khashoggi's assassination, according to multiple reports, despite consistent denials by Saudi Arabia.

Several members of Trump's cabinet have refused to listen to the tapes.President Trump himself said there was " <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ap-the-latest-trump-says-no-reason-to-hear-khashoggi-tape-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest" id="80d5f102-e9c8-3d3a-afe3-658937c82a1f"> no reason </a> " to hear the recording because itwould not change his decision on how to respond.

"It's a suffering tape, it's a terrible tape," Trump said in the interview with Fox News earlier this month. "I know everything that went on in the tape without having to hear it."

Trump doubled down on his defense of the Saudi crown prince <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-defends-saudi-crown-prince-in-khashoggi-death-disputes-cia-reported-conclusion-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest" id="3c1f8052-affe-38f8-a07a-b1e602e2621e"> last week </a> , and said the US-Saudi relationship was "paramount" in his decision making.

White House national security adviser John Bolton on Tuesday said he hasn't listened to the audio either <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/john-bolton-says-he-hasnt-listened-to-audio-of-jamal-khashoggi-killing-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest" id="0bd68ee1-8339-38d0-a9d5-e297d28a0476"> because he does not speak Arabic </a> .

Bolton claimed that people who speak Arabic have listened to the tape and given White House advisers the "substance" of what is in it.

And reports emerged on Tuesday which said the White House is preventing CIA Director Gina Haspel — who <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/oct/23/jamal-khashoggi-trump-cover-up-sanctions-visas" id="4a4f4b09-6f18-32e5-ad61-d3840a662847"> traveled to Ankara and is said to have listened to the tapes </a> —from briefing the Senate on its contents.Other intelligence officials have also been barred from a closed door meeting, ahead of a vote that would determine if the US would cut support for Saudi forces in Yemen, the <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/nov/27/jamal-khashoggi-murder-senate-briefing-saudi-arabia-gina-haspel-white-house" id="1c9041fc-5fe7-30ef-a659-69d8c4bb0d6c"> Guardian said </a> .

FormerCIA officerBob Baer, who worked primarily in the Middle East, said the US has purposely muted its response to Khashoggi's murder as part of a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/white-house-allegedly-helping-saudis-cover-up-jamal-khashoggi-murder-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest" id="668cbf75-e27e-3b69-abde-ccd0c652ede2"> deliberate cover up </a> .

"We've always turned a blind eye to what's going on in Saudi Arabia," he toldCNN earlier this month. "Saudi Arabia is a volcano and to try and push the Crown Prince out, we don't have any players [in Saudi Arabia] on our side, so we don't know what to do."

Jamal Khashoggi's editor at The Washington Post claims the White House is trying to 'cover up' for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

The Senate on Wednesday <a id="79365134-709b-3a8c-a4f4-6d75324cf00f" href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/senate-joint-resolution/54/text"> advanced a resolution </a> to end US support for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.

The resolution, which calls on the president to remove most US troops in Yemen, passed 63 to 37. The resolution failed to pass earlier this year.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) led the push for the measure alongside Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah). Sanders has long opposed the United States' role in the war in Yemen — <a id="aba26b30-35f7-3d76-a890-12c19963979d" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/history-of-conflict-in-yemen-2017-12?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> one of the world's worst humanitarian crises </a> — andcharacterized it as " <a id="d21ab169-4061-39a4-ac50-37f9d2214abf" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/bernie-sanders-slams-us-yemen-war-saudi-arabia-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> unconstitutional </a> " given that Congress had not weighed in on the matter.

In an incredible show of unity, all Senate Democrats voted in favor of the resolution. Prominent Senate Republicans, including Bob Corker (R-Tennessee), Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), and Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) — all of whom have voiced <a id="f7c83152-b968-3a67-ae3c-5293eec2af08" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/republicans-respond-to-trump-defense-of-saudi-arabia-khashoggi-killing-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> strong opposition to Trump's handling of Saudi Arabia </a> in the wake of Jamal Khashoggi's murder — <a id="554495c9-726d-3750-af6c-34cbaf355d6c" href="https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=115&amp;session=2&amp;vote=00250"> also voted in favor </a> of the measure.

Following the vote, Sanders praised the decision to move toward withdrawing troops from Yemen.

"The bottom line is the United States should not be supporting a catastrophic war led by a despotic regime with a dangerous and irresponsible military policy," Sanders said in a <a id="ee76e468-fd54-38da-a0d1-0de66a1f007f" href="https://www.sanders.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/sanders-statement-on-advancement-of-yemen-war-powers-resolution"> statement </a> . "Let us bring this catastrophic war in Yemen to an end, help bring peace to this tortured country and with the rest of the world help provide the humanitarian aid that is so desperately needed."

Murphy <a id="a9e27915-7cf8-3373-a149-6cbb21c93d33" href="https://twitter.com/ChrisMurphyCT/status/1067903174458130434"> tweeted </a> that Wednesday's vote sent a huge signal to the Trump administration.

"The Saudis are our ally. But their war in Yemen has gone off the rails and their disregard for human life has become unconscionable," he wrote. "Today’s Senate vote is a signal to the Administration that they must reorient American policy toward Saudi Arabia or Congress will do it for them."

The resolution still needs another vote to be debated on the floor, and then a final vote — though the White House has indicated plans to shelve the measure when it reaches the president's desk.

In the lead up to the vote, the Trump administration was accused of trying to " <a id="9d5a7892-e622-342f-afe3-093c2c1d3a0d" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/white-house-accused-of-shielding-saudis-in-jamal-khashoggi-murder-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> cover up </a> " Khashoggi's murder by reportedly <a id="48887669-fff7-32ca-a28a-3e18433bdd1c" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-accused-of-cover-up-after-barring-haspel-from-briefing-senate-khashoggi-killing-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> blocking CIA Director Gina Haspel </a> from attending a classified Senate briefing on Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and Khashoggi. Haspel has traveled to Istanbul to discuss the investigation and is said to have listened to audio of the grisly killing. A CIA spokesperson told The Washington Post that "the notion that anyone told Director Haspel not to attend today’s briefing is false."

Senate votes in favor of a key resolution to end US support of Saudi Arabia in Yemen

Ukrainian servicemen captured during clashes with Russia on Sunday made bizarre video confessions broadcast on Russian state TV.

On Sunday, Russia confirmed that <a id="98b12743-313e-306b-a8ad-bf70826910e6" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-ukraine-navy-tensions-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> its ships attacked Ukrainian vessels off the coast of Crimea </a> in a major escalation of tensions in the region.

Ukraine says Russia opened fire on its navy and seized three of its vessels, injuring at least six of its servicemen. Russia claims that the ships entered its waters illegally, and that it gave the Ukrainian crews warning to turn back.

Late Monday, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) released videos of three men it says were involved in the showdown at sea. Russian state media quickly circulated the <a id="245d3d6e-1116-3e87-a37a-a92bd084fd53" href="https://twitter.com/Ruptly/status/1067345468953427968"> bizarre messages </a> that spoke of "deliberate" action and "provocation" against Russian forces.

Volodymyr Lisovyi, pictured above,claimed in a video to be a commander of a military unit and said he carried out the mission to pass through the Kerch Strait — the only access point to the Sea of Azov, shared by both Ukraine and Russia. He also said heignored requests by Russia to stop on purpose.

"I was aware that the presence of a group of Ukrainian Navy ships in the Kerch Strait was a provocation in its nature," he said. He <a id="50dad724-b7ad-3976-aa95-9035ec5c3260" href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-46356111"> added </a> that there were machine guns and other arms on board.

Andriy Drach, another serviceman, said in his testimony that he was operating on an order to travelfrom Odessa to Mariupol, which would require travel through the Kerch Strait.

"We were warned by the border service of the Russian Federation that we were violating Russian law," he said. "They had repeatedly asked us to leave the territorial waters of the Russian Federation."

A third man gave similar testimony.

Ihor Voronchenko, Ukraine's Navy commander, <a id="ad713134-3b36-3965-a022-3d7cfe6a8e7e" href="https://en.interfax.com.ua/news/general/548525.html"> said </a> on Ukrainian TV that the men were forced to give false statements under pressure.

"I know those sailors from Nikopol," he said. "They have always been honest professionals in their jobs. And what they say now is not true."

Voronchenko <a id="0c9bf6ce-981d-3543-a028-f5cff6c9b12c" href="https://twitter.com/ChristopherJM/status/1066716831610822656"> said </a> Sunday his crews and vessels placed near the Kerch Strait were on combat alert.

Tensions have significantly heightened in Crimea.Russia has been steadily increasing its control of the Crimean peninsula, which it annexed in 2014, and Russia recently completed its construction of a massive 18-kilometer (11.2 mile) bridge linking the Crimea peninsula to mainland Russia.

Ukraine on Monday <a id="bc27e5d1-73b7-3eb1-ad3b-b7e959aa9e57" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ukraine-says-russia-preparing-to-launch-large-scale-ground-invasion-martial-law-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> imposed martial law </a> in parts of the country as President Petro Poroshenko warned of the "extremely serious" threat of invasion by Russian forces.

"Russia has been waging a hybrid war against our country for a fifth year. But with an attack on Ukrainian military boats it moved to a new stage of aggression," Poroshenko said.
