The wife of the <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/articles/sports/breaking-news-unknown-person-stabbed-asante-kotoko-diehard-supporter-pooley-to-death-2025020219361968716">Asante Kotoko fan who was tragically stabbed to death</a> during the Ghana Premier League clash with Nsoatreman FC has finally broken her silence since the unfortunate incident happened last night.

Yaa Gifty, the late Francis Yaw Frimpong’s wife was in disbelief over the turn of events. She said she was eagerly expecting her husband’s return from Nsoatre.

However, that never happened as chaos erupted at the Nana Konamansah II Stadium which eventually led to the stabbing of Naa Pooley, as her late husband was popularly known.

Gifty spoke to Kumasi-based LUV FM in an emotional interview at their residence.

She noted the following as quoted by JoySports:

Kumbeni, who is an advocate for clean renewable energy, has been involved in cycling for some years now but this is set to be his first expedition outside the country.

He made the headlines earlier this year after riding 815km from Bolgatanga to Accra to raise awareness about climate change.

He rode the long distance to the capital as part of a campaign to advocate for clean air in Ghana by encouraging cycling as an alternative and viable means of transport.

In an interview with Pulse.com.gh in April, he revealed that the main motivation behind his riding expeditions was to lead social change.

Kumbeni has now revealed that he plans to embark on another cycling journey from Ghana to Morocco in a bid to cross borders with his advocacy.

Ghanaian cyclist James Kumbeni has revealed that he intends to ride a bicycle from Ghana to Morocco as part of his next cycling adventure.

Kudus is one of 11 nominees vying for the prestigious award, which recognises the best goal scored in the course of the last season.

The Ghana international scored an impressive goal when West Ham United hosted Freiburg in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals.

The team’s failure left head coach Otto Addo at the mercy of journalists when he stepped out for his post-match press conference.

In what was a very hostile environment, the 49-year-old was faced with critical questions from all angles.

There was also a heated moment between Addo and Adom FM presenter Kobby Stone, who had questioned the coach’s tactical nous.

The defeat saw the four-time African champions end the qualifying campaign in embarrassing fashion, with no wins from six matches.

<h2>Otto Addo faces criticism from Ghanaians on social media</h2>

It also marked the first time in two decades that Ghana have failed to qualify for the AFCON, having last done so in 2004.

While Otto Addo rendered an unqualified apology to the Ghanaian supporters in his post-match press conference, some still took to social media to hit out at his performance in the dugout.

Ghanaian fans on social media have torn into Coach Otto Addo following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

He was said to have been rushed to a hospital in London after complaining of chest pains but unfortunately gave up the ghost at the facility.

Osei's death was confirmed in a tribute shared by his former club Kotoko on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of our former player and coach Michael Osei, having sadly suffered with a heart condition in recent months.&nbsp;The thoughts of everyone at the club are with his family and colleagues. Rest in peace, Michael," the club posted.

Osei made his name as a player with Kotoko in the early 1990s, helping them to win two Ghana Premier League titles.

He went on to have a decent career in Germany, where he lined up for Eintracht Frankfurt and Mainz 05, among others.

He retired from professional football in 2006 following a brief spell with German lower-tier side Alemannia Haibach.

Osei immediately ventured into coaching and worked as an assistant manager for FSV Frankfurt’s reserve side.

He then had spells with Ghana Premier League clubs New Edubiase and Kotoko as an assistant manager before becoming the substantive coach of the Porcupine Warriors in 2016.

The former midfielder led Kotoko to win the President’s Cup before later managing Liberty Professionals and Star Madrid.

Osei’s last managerial job was at Bibiani Gold Stars, where he served as head coach from 2021 to 2023.

Former Asante Kotoko player and coach Michael Osei has reportedly passed away at the age of 53.

The Ghana defender said it was the Blues’ doctor, Paco Biosca, who convinced him that he could still have a career after that terrible injury.

Rahman was on a promising career path when he joined Chelsea in 2015 and was later loaned to Bundesliga side Schalke O4 for the 2016-17 season.

However, he suffered a ligament tear during Ghana’s opening game against Uganda at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

That injury kept him on the sidelines for nearly two years, with the 30-year-old enduring a setback shortly after recovering from his first ACL injury.

Rahman has since put his injury woes behind him and is currently enjoying his football at POAK after joining the Greek side in 2023.

Discussing his time at Chelsea, the Ghana international said injuries didn’t allow him to give his best at the English club, revealing that it was Dr. Paco who talked him out of retirement after his second ACL injury.

“I am sad things didn’t work out at Chelsea. I just had so many bad injuries, and because I wasn’t 100% fit, I wasn’t able to give my absolute best,” Rahman told BBC Sport.

“I owe them a lot because it was Dr. Paco who convinced me not to retire after my second ACL injury. It had taken me 18 months to come back, and when the doctor told me I had another ACL injury, I decided that I had had enough."

“I told my family I was quitting. But Dr. Paco said that he had seen other players come back and promised that if I was patient and mentally strong, I could do it too. I slept on it and then decided I wanted to fight for my career.”

Rahman has played 18 matches in all competitions this season for PAOK, contributing five goals and one assist.

The 34-year-old said although Kudus has the potential to scoop the prestigious individual award, Ghana’s deteriorating quality at the moment doesn't help his case much.

Since joining<a href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/sports/mo-kudus-joins-west-ham-united/bb45jvp"> West Ham from Ajax Amsterdam</a> last year, Kudus has established himself as one of the most entertaining players in Europe.

In his debut season with the Hammers, the Ghana international contributed 14 goals and six assists in all competitions.

He also set the record for the most successful dribbles in a single Premier League game when West Ham faced Chelsea and ended the 2023/24 campaign as the best dribbler in Europe.

The 24-year-old has, however, struggled this season at both club and international levels and was recently banned for five games in the Premier League for violent conduct.

“With Mo’s [Mohammed Kudus] talent, there’s a 100% chance that he can win [African Footballer of the Year],” Antonio said on Joy Sports’ Prime Take.

“Obviously, there are some great potentials there. There’s [Pierre] Aubameyang, there’s Mo Salah, there’s [Sadio] Mane, and there’s definitely Kudus, but I believe he has the talent to do it.”

“It’s just that he needs the surroundings of his team to help him to do it, and right now, Ghana isn’t at that quality. Ghana has a quality past and quality history, but right now, they’re not doing as well as they feel like they should be doing.”

Meanwhile, Kudus will be hoping to get back to scoring when Ghana face Angola in a 2025 AFCON qualifier on Friday.
