The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has sponsored 500 victims of the Boko Haram insurgency from Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states to acquire vocational skills.

Commencing today, Monday 17th of August, the training programme is being executed under the UNDP Livelihood Support Scheme and will cover computer studies, leatherworks, GSM repair, hair dressing, tailoring, knitting, catering and decoration and shoe-making.

A UN Conflict Prevention and Peace Building Analyst, Matthew Alao, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that it is the first phase of UN efforts towards assisting internally displaced persons in the North East.

He revealed that the 500 trainees, selected from "over 2,000 applications" will first under a compulsory two-week orientation programme before the main training commences.

“They are going to undergo physical exercise, training, capacity building on mediation, conflict prevention, conflict transformation, social integration, peaceful coexistence for two weeks," he said.

“We are also going to train them on mediation and conflict transformation as well as business management; after that, we will put them on six-month to one-year training."

Alao said the need to support victims who have lost their livelihoods in the insurgency birthed the project

“Some of them had means of livelihood before, but unfortunately their means of sustaining livelihood have been cut short because of the Boko Haram insurgency.

“But we want to assure them that for every one that is impacted in one way or the other, they will be accommodated in the various phases of the Early Recovery Programme."

He said the UN will continue to support displaced person.

Grupico, who taught history teacher at the now-closed Cardinal McCarrick High School, New Jersey, was arrested on Thursday for the alleged crime.

According to the Office of the Middlesex County Prosecutor, she has been charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

The prosecutor, Andrew Carey, said the sexual relationship took place in May at the school.

Carey said the investigation is still ongoing.

Interestingly, some people have argued that many of the students in schools have relationships already and are not really abused by the teachers.

They believe that teachers could have sexual romantic relationships with students who are up to certain age.

Others also argue that it is okay if such relationships happen outside school hours.

It is entirely criminal or there are some exceptions?

Most certainly, a teacher who is compromised through such emotional (and sexual) connections would not be able to carry out his or her duties properly, especially where it concerns the subject of affection.

A Utah judge has sentenced a high school English teacher who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing three male students to up to 30 years in prison.

Brianne Altice, a married mother of one, had sexual relations with one 16-year-old and two 17-year-old male students, prosecutors.

One of the students reportedly said he considered her to be his girlfriend during their one-year relationship.

Altice was jailed after it was alleged that she resumed a sexual relationship with one of the boys while she was out on bail and her case still in court.

She pleaded guilty to three counts of forcible sexual abuse in April and had begged Judge Thomas Kay not to jail her.

But the judge said she needed jail time to change her life.

"You were the adult, you were the teacher, you were the one that could have stopped that from happening," he said.

According to ABC News, she cried and apologized to her victims in court on Thursday.

"I am human, and I messed up during a very vulnerable time in my life," she said.

The mother of the 16-year-old victim said Altice had damaged her victims.

"You hurt my son in ways that you will never know. You hurt all of those boys," said the woman.

Her lawyer claims she gave in after the boys flirted with her while she was dealing with self-esteem problems.

But the prosecutor Cristina Ortega said even though the students flirted, Altice should discouraged them.

"She enjoyed the positive attention she was getting from them, but I think she failed to recognize that she was the adult, and this wasn't positive attention," she said.

Altice has since been fired from her job and her husband filed for divorce and custody of their child.

"At home, also the mum pressed him to do a lot of things ... pressure to learn.

Ji said he lent Li about $900 to buy an airline ticket to Singapore.

Li's father, Jian Lu Li, was the one who discovered his wife corpse.

He is expected to give evidence at his son's trial next week.

Jarrell Milton, a fugitive wanted on murder charges, was arrested in Minneapolis and is now in the custody of the US Marshals Service, the Omaha World-Herald reports.

Reports quoting police sources say Milton, his 17-year-old brother Jamar, and a 15-year-old, Shuntayvious Primes-Willis, shot two men, killing one in what seems like a drug deal gone sour.

One of the men, 31-year-old Jamymell Ray, died.

The World-Herald reports that the gang had arranged a meeting for a marijuana deal where the shooting took place.

All three of the suspects had weapons and prosecutors want to charge all of them with first-degree murder as adults.

"It's unbelievable when you think of somebody who's 12 years old, seventh grade or sixth grade, and being charged with murder for having a gun—approaching somebody and using that firearm with two other people that also had firearms," a prosecutor told WOWT.

"It's even impossible to imagine that it's even a possibility."

However, the law may not allow them to charge the 12-year-old as an adult.

Addressing the issue, Dr. Alverston Bailey, family physician and author of Sexplanations: A guide to discussing Sex &amp; Sexuality in the Caribbean, said most Jamaicans, especially women, are conservative and secretive when it comes to their sexual lives and the issue of journalising your sex journey as a man is very uncommon.

"Women are far more likely to keep a diary of those personal events, men rarely ever do that," he said.

He added that as a matter of fact, a lot of men falsely increase their actual numbers, and a sex list, which is an accomplishment in their case, may serve as a form of validation for a man's prowess.

"Oftentimes men are driven to have more than one sexual partner because to be admired by many women, many men think it validates their masculinity and makes them feel special and that they are needed and desired," he said.

However, according to Dr. Bailey, beyond all that is the possibility of these men having psychological issues, which include borderline personality disorder.

"It is often men with low self-esteem that need to be validated by women. It often suggests an individual with a borderline personality disorder and in fact may be hypersexuality, which could be due to upbringing and a desperate attempt to achieve love."

He added that a lot of these men may not like women, but might be having sex merely as an expression of power.

"It might be that he is obsessed with the need to control or dominate women or use them as a sport or game, where the more virgins he deflowers or the more hearts he breaks, the greater he feels," Dr Bailey said.

"The individual might also be suffering from sexual addiction. A sexual addict finds it very difficult to get gratification from any sexual partner and the person does not really enjoy sex. He or she is trying to find love and moves from flower to flower, trying to achieve gratification, and even though he's looking for love he is unable to give love because of his upbringing and socialisation."

Dr. Hannah Fry, a mathematician at University College London, has developed a practical theory for love that involves ruling out anyone you meet in the first 37% of your dating life.

Speaking at the Oxford Literary Festival, Fry said that looks were not proven to make a difference in finding love.

At a party, she said, "Ultimately, no one cares if you look like or . All they care about is how you look compared to everybody else."
