<h2>One Motunrayo Olaniyi has allegedly stabbed his newlywed wife, Olajumoke, to death after a heated argument at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.</h2>

The 30-year-old Olaniyi was said to have stabbed his&nbsp;25-year-old wife multiple times, locked her in the room and set it on fire.

The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, October 4, 2024, after the couple had an altercation.

This is according to Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday.

He stated that the suspect also inflicted wounds on himself after committing the act.

However, a team of police personnel who arrived at the scene were said to have extinguished the fire and later discovered Olajumoke's lifeless body with wounds to the abdomen.

“A distress call was received on October 4 at Ikorodu Division that a newly wedded couple, one Motunrayo Olaniyi, aged 30, and his wife Olajumoke, aged 25 years, allegedly engaged in a domestic scuffle in their room at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe, Ikorodu.

“In the process, the husband reportedly stabbed the wife to death, locked her in the room, and set it ablaze, while he inflicted wounds on himself.

“Police from the Ikorodu Division responded to a distress call and put out the fire. They found Olajumoke’s lifeless body with abdominal wounds,” the statement read in part.

The police mouthpiece added that Olaniyi was rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital where he was treated and discharged before being taken into police custody.

He said preliminary investigation later revealed that the suspect stabbed his wife during the altercation and inflicted minor wounds on himself.

“The corpse has been deposited at Ikorodu General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Investigation is in progress,” he concluded.

<h2>A 71-year-old Indian man, identified as Alfred Ruf, has confessed to poisoning his wife's drinks with drugs, including cocaine and MDMA, as part of a grand scheme to murder her and marry her daughter.</h2>

Ruf was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to the accusation which bordered on aggravated battery posing a risk of death.

The case dates back to 2021 when the convict reportedly spiked his wife, Liza Bishop's Coca-Cola drinks with multiple substances.

This caused Bishop to begin experiencing mysterious symptoms such as headaches, drowsiness, and diarrhoea.

She eventually sought medical assistance and was hospitalised six times within a few weeks after drugs she had not taken were found in her system,

It was during this period that she observed a powdery residue in her soft drinks. This led her to suspect foul play and she contacted the authorities by January 2022.

Meanwhile, Ruf confessed to her that <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/news/metro/man-swallows-poison-after-wife-went-away-with-their-children/bgdx0wk">he was trying to poison her</a> and later admitted this to law enforcement, adding that he had been “spiking” her drinks with drugs obtained from her 31-year-old daughter.

The husband also revealed that he had a sexual relationship with his wife's daughter who has promised to marry him if her mother is no longer in the picture.

According to Ruf's confessional statement, the daughter and her friend instructed him to <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/news/metro/police-saves-man-after-taking-poison-over-naira12m-debt/1c7slxf">lace Bishop's drinks with drugs</a> to make her sleep for about 13 hours.

“Alfred would then sprinkle some of the white powder in (his wife’s) Coca-Cola can and then wait for her to fall asleep,” read the probable cause affidavit.

“(The women) would then come to Alfred’s residence and put more of an unknown substance in (Ruf’s wife’s) drink and have her drink it,” the document added.

While all this was going on, the two women would come to the house, adorn themselves in Bishop's clothes and perform sexual acts on each other as part of a plan to clear the way for Ruf to marry the daughter.

Court documents confirm Rauf's claim that the daughter had promised to marry him once her mother had been taken out of the picture, which they planned to achieve by poisoning her and benefitting from her life insurance policy.

The husband admitted to poisoning his wife 12 times between September and December 2021, fully aware the substances could eventually kill her.

In addition to his four-year sentence, Ruf will face five years of probation.

However, authorities are still investigating the two other suspects in connection with the case, though no further arrests have been made.

<h2>A 54-year-old Nigerian woman, Alake Latoyosi, has delivered 11 babies in two batches within the space of seven days in Cotonou, Benin Republic.</h2>

According to the woman's husband, Yahaya Nafiu, the first set of six arrived on August 7, while the second arrived seven days later, on August 14,&nbsp;2024.

Nafiu, the Missioner of Ilorin Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) in Port Novo, Ajasse, and Cotonou in the neighbouring West African country, said a birth attendant took the delivery of the babies on the two occasions.

The decuplets consisted of eight males and three females, but two girls didn't make it through delivery.

The father stated that the remaining nine babies are hale and hearty but meeting the huge financial cost of caring for them and their mother has become a huge problem.

“A few days after the delivery of the first set of children, my wife said she felt strange movements in her stomach. After a scan was carried out at the hospital, the doctor revealed that she was carrying another set of children, which led them to contact the initial birth attendant, and the next set of five babies was delivered,” the 56-year-old husband said.

He added that the wife carried the pregnancy for three years before delivery.

Even efforts by doctors to carry out a Caesarian operation failed as the hospital could not ascertain the pregnancy position, leading to the husband attributing the experience to an evil spiritual influence on the doctors.

Speaking on the development, the national president of IEDPU, Abdulmumini Abdulmalik, said history has repeated itself.

The plaintiff went ahead to pay Mikano 85 million naira for the car with an agreement that Dikeh would complete the balance in instalments within three months of receiving the vehicle.

The actress surrendered her used 2008/2009 Lexus valued at 37 million naira as an initial deposit before making an additional 3.5 million naira payment but failed to settle the balance at the expiration of the payment window in April.

<h2>The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has asked Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh to report to its headquarters in Abuja in connection with an investigation into charges bordering on defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery, among others.</h2>

The summon was contained in an invitation letter issued by the Inspector-General of the Police Monitoring Unit, which is handling the case.

Confirming the development on Friday, August 9, 2024, the Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, said <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/celebrities/tonto-dikeh-pens-open-letter-to-mohbads-father/w0d467w">Dikeh was invited</a> following a petition against her.

Adejobi added that the actress had been released while investigation continues into the matter.

<h2>Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has removed 63,000 accounts belonging to Nigerian users over attempts to engage in financial sexual extortion scams mostly targeted at adult men in the United States.</h2>

The tech company disclosed this in its Q1 2024 Adversarial Threat Report released on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

Meta said the 63,000 affected accounts were on Instagram and used to distribute blackmail scripts and other phoney schemes.

It added that 7,200 Facebook accounts, pages, and groups dedicated to providing tips on scamming people were also removed.

The <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/business/domestic/top-social-media-platforms-with-the-most-monthly-active-users/jfjb4gg">social media giant</a> also reported that a smaller coordinated network of around 2,500 linked to a group of around 20 individuals was also taken down.

It said it identified and disabled these accounts courtesy of a combination of advanced technical signals and comprehensive investigations, enhancing its automated fake identities.

“Financial sextortion is a borderless crime, fueled in recent years by the increased activity of Yahoo Boys, loosely organised cybercriminals operating largely out of Nigeria that specialise in different types of scams,” Meta said.

“We’ve removed around 63,000 accounts in Nigeria attempting to target people with financial sextortion scams, including a coordinated network of around 2,500 accounts.”

“We’ve also removed a set of Facebook accounts, Pages, and groups run by Yahoo Boys—banned under our Dangerous Organisations and Individuals policy—that were attempting to organise, recruit and train new scammers,” it explained.

The company found during the investigation that <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/business/domestic/mark-zuckerbergs-meta-just-got-some-bad-news/1n2he41">most sammers' attempts were unsuccessful</a> and although mostly targeting adults, some of them targeted minors.

The cases were reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

To help curb these scams on other platforms, Meta shared the information with other tech companies via the Tech Coalition Lantern programme.

It noted further that the 7,2000 Facebook assets removed consisted of 1,300 accounts, 200 pages, and 5,700 groups that were providing scam-related resources.

These assets were discovered to be sharing scripts and guides for scams and sharing links to collections of photos for creating fake accounts.

Since the clean-up operation, Meta's system has been actively blocking attempts from the phoney groups to return whilst continually bolstering its detection capabilities.

The <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/business/domestic/top-6-countries-with-the-biggest-tech-firms/nhes88n">tech giant disclosed</a> it has been collaborating with law enforcement, supporting investigations, and prosecutions by responding to legal requests and alerting authorities to imminent threats.

The firm declared that its efforts extend beyond account removal.

“We also fund and support NCMEC and the International Justice Mission to run Project Boost, a program that trains law enforcement agencies around the world in processing and acting on NCMEC reports.

“We’ve conducted several training sessions so far, including in Nigeria and the Cote d’Ivoire, with our most recent session taking place just last month,” the company revealed.

<h3>FBI confirms shooter's identity</h3>

Meanwhile, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has confirmed the identity of the shooter.

“Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, is the subject involved in the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump on July 13, in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and anyone with information that may assist with the investigation is encouraged to submit photos or videos online,” the FBI said in a statement on Sunday.

For its part, the Secret Service said the shooter “fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside the rally” before being “neutralised” by agents.

<h3>Who was Thomas Crooks?</h3>

After he was neutralised at the scene, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office, Kevin Rojek, said Crooks was found with no means of identification, so agents had to “run his DNA and get biometric confirmation.”

<h2>Popular Nigerian pastor, Abel Damina, has stirred up emotions on social media after telling his congregations to let go of the belief that only the people who believe in Jesus Christ will go to heaven, saying "God isn't a Christian."</h2>

Damina, who is the Senior Pastor of Power City International headquartered in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state Read, made the <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/news/metro/conservative-christians-hit-out-at-pastors-solution-to-porn-addiction/g7yg67k">controversial remarks during one of his recent sermons</a> whose video was circulated on social media on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

Addressing a crowd of worshippers, the cleric attempted to disabuse the minds of certain Christian believers who thought Christianity was the only gateway to paradise.

He urged them to discard such belief while further stressing that Jesus was not even a Christian.

Damina referred to Biblical characters like Abraham, David, and Jesus Christ, noting that these prophets didn't use the term 'Christianity' but were instead referred to as believers, stressing that these holy people were merely disciples or believers, not “Christians” in the traditional sense.

“Many of you think God is a Christian. God is not a Christian. Many of you think if you are not a Christian, you won’t go to heaven, lie. People went to heaven before Christianity started. Christianity started in Antioch in the Book of Acts. That should humble you a bit, and you should start adjusting your theology.

“And it is unbelievers that gave the name Christianity that you are carrying as a condition to go to heaven— unbelievers who watch the people who were adherents of Brother Paul’s teachings. After teaching for some time, they saw the transformation that had happened to these people. Before then, they were called believers and almajiris. They were disciples of Paul.

“Then the people said instead of calling disciples, the transformation we see in them is that they look like Christ, so let’s call them Christians. But before then, many people went to heaven, including the thief on the cross. So, you don’t have to be a Christian to make heaven,” he said in the video.

Meanwhile, some Nigerians have expressed their reservations against the claim made by Pastor Damina.

<h2>A 24-year-old woman, identified as Blessing Okonkwo, has confessed to selling her three-year-old sibling (name withheld) at the cost of 410,000 naira to raise money for her traditional wedding and other needs.</h2>

Okonkwo is a resident of Mubi in Adamawa State, while her sibling lived with their mother, Hauwa Lawan, in Rimirgo in the Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

The suspect reportedly tricked her mother before taking the kid on the false pretence of enrolling him in a school in Mubi, some 40 kilometres away from Rimirgo.

After several weeks, their mother became worried as all her attempts to speak with her son over the phone were cunningly thwarted by Okonkwo.

Lawan resorted to flagging the situation to the police, which led to the <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/news/metro/police-arrest-man-wife-for-human-trafficking-in-anambra/vhwme7z">arrest of the suspect</a>.

Narrating the incident, Okonkwo said she sold the boy for 410,000 naira to a willing buyer, one Efunaya Nabufe, who <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/news/metro/child-trafficking-gang-sells-12-year-old-boy-for-naira400000/q3pe889">trafficked the victim to Enugu city</a> in the southeastern state of Enugu.

"I used the proceeds of the crime to buy a grinding machine so I can start a business and also gave my boyfriend ₦200,000 to buy items required for our traditional wedding," the suspect confessed to the police.

<h3>Mother in dismay</h3>

For her part, Lawan expressed dismay, wondering how her daughter could <a data-link-role-code="open_new_tab" href="https://www.pulse.ng/news/local/police-arrest-father-attempting-to-sell-daughter-for-naira15m-in-bauchi/pw2pgm8">sell her sibling to a total stranger</a>.

"She visited sometime last year and lied to me that she would be taking her kid brother to enrol him in a school in the city, seeing there's no good school in our village.

"Ever since she took away the boy I never heard from him because any time I called to hear his voice she kept telling me one lie or the other for one year now. I got tired of asking and since I least suspected my own daughter could do this to me, I didn't raise any alarm.
