New York Giants superstar Odell Beckham Jr. has made a career out of defying the odds.

And in the latest episode of his weekly docu-series "I am more: OBJ," Beckham said his goal is to do so for years to come.

The 26-year-old Beckham estimated that he spends over $300,000 each offseason on body maintenance, with money going to doctors, massage therapists, trainers, track specialists, chiropractors, and more.

For most people that astronomical price tag is out of reach. However, with Beckham's $90 million contract and endorsements from Nike and others, Beckham sees that expenditure as more of an investment than anything else.

"I take care of my body each and every day," Beckham said, per <a id="37437cc0-dc69-3c24-a4da-f2d2b78e7a6c" href="http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york-giants/post/_/id/58282/obj-spends-over-300k-on-his-body-in-the-offseason"> ESPN's Jordan Raanan </a> . "I put, probably, over $300,000 in my body in the offseason. It's a lot to upkeep. I don't ever want to decline."

Beckham cited Tom Brady as a source of inspiration. Four-time NBA MVP LeBron James places a similarly high premium on caring for his body. Beckham is in good company when it comes to investing in his greatest asset. Having endured a severe ankle injury last season, the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native understands what it takes to keep his body right. He worked with popular NFL trainer Jamal Liggin and celebrity trainer Colt Colletti this offseason to regain his pre-injury agility and speed. He also consulted with USC Director of Track and Field Caryl Smith Gilbert.

"I feel like next year I'll be even better," Beckham said during the episode. And if Brady, Harrison, and James are any indication, he's probably right.

Utah Jazz big man Rudy Gobert had a rough, rough start to Thursday night's contest.

It was so rough, in fact, that the 7-foot-1 Frenchman didn't stick around past the first three minutes of the game.

Gobert was whistled one second into the game and charged with a loose ball foul for grabbing Houston Rockets center Clint Capela's arm on the opening tip. Everybody on the floor seemed stunned by the call, including Jazz head coach Quin Snyder, who can be seen asking the referees "Are you kidding me?" on the replay.

Gobert managed to brush off the penalty and continue playing, but less than three minutes later he was charged with a controversial offensive foul for pushing off of Houston star and notorious flopper James Harden while posting up under the basket.

The Saint-Quentin, France, native was visibly frustrated as he left the floor with two personal fouls. Before he reached the bench, Gobert slapped a drink off of the scorers' table and shouted angrily towards the referees. He was issued a technical foul and subsequently ejected from the game just 2:47 into the contest.

Gobert decided to work out his frustration in the gym. Shortly after his quick exit from the game, Gobert posted photos and videos to his Instagram story of himself working out in an otherwise-empty training facility in the arena. The posts have since been deleted from Gobert's feed.

Utah handed the Rockets a 118-91 loss despite losing their starting center so early on in the contest. But after the game, NBA Crew Chief Tom Washington addressed a series of questions regarding Gobert's fouls and eventual ejection.

"During the jump ball, Rudy Gobert grabs the arm of Capela, which is illegal contact so it was a loose ball foul," Washington told pool reporter Eric Woodyard of the Deseret News. "He was [later] issued a one-technical ejection because as he was coming off the floor he forcefully swung at items on the scorer's table and those three items came out to the floor a considerable amount. It was just too demonstrative and we had to take action on that."

For his part, Gobert blamed himself for letting his frustration get the best of him.

Jazz's Rudy Gobert gets whistled for a foul during the opening tip and gets ejected less than three minutes into the game

Ever since <a id="da204448-3819-3ecf-ad51-437b6fd9cdb8" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ap-the-latest-no-3-gonzaga-holds-off-no-1-duke-89-87-in-maui-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> Gonzaga took down the mighty Duke Blue Devils </a> at the Maui Invitational tournament on November 21, the No. 1 Bulldogs have been the kings of college basketball.

But the Washington Huskies challenged the throne Wednesday night, nearly forcing overtime if not for star forward Rui Hachimura's late-game heroics.

Gonzaga had stomped out the Texas A&amp;M Aggies, the Illinois Fighting Illini, and the Arizona Wildcats heading into its season-defining victory against coach Mike Krzyzewski's Blue Devils. After arriving home from Hawaii, the Bulldogs notched a 38-point rout of the North Dakota State Bison before securing a tough road win against the Creighton Bluejays on Saturday.

It was clear from the opening tip that Washington would not go down without a fight, but the Bulldogs still carried a 10-point lead heading into halftime and held on to an eight-point advantage with just over two minutes to play. That was when the Huskies stormed back, however, and they eventually tied the game with 10 seconds left.

Gonzaga point guard Josh Perkins ran a couple of seconds off the clock by bringing the ball up the court and dribbling around the perimeter but found Hachimura just inside the free-throw line with his back to the basket and three seconds to go. The Toyama, Japan, native caught the ball in the air and twisted toward the basket before he landed. With four Washington players closing in on him, Hachimura rose up through traffic and sank the clutch jumper with just 0.6 seconds on the clock.

"It was crazy," <a id="055de1d5-9392-3639-a21f-777e36b1e1f4" href="https://twitter.com/marchmadness/status/1070576721722658816"> Hachimura told NCAA.com's Andy Katz </a> . "My teammates and coaches trust me, and Josh passed me the ball, so I was like, 'OK, I have to make it,' and I shot."

Hachimura finished the game with 26 points and seven rebounds, leading his team out of a very close call. The Bulldogs will hope to carry that momentum into numerous tough coming contests. Gonzaga is scheduled to travel to Phoenix for a neutral-site contest against the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers on Sunday afternoon before heading to the Tar Heel State to take on No. 14 North Carolina at the Dean Smith Center less than a week later.

The Bulldogs are one of just 11 teams in men's college basketball that remain undefeated this season. If they can continue that level of dominance through a very challenging stretch of games with their star Killian Tillie benched with an ankle injury for the first two months of the season, coach Mark Few's squad will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with come March.

Top-ranked Gonzaga avoids first loss of the season with an epic last-second game-winner

A disturbing video surfaced Friday of former Kansas City Chiefs running back <a id="1e68f00c-bb42-3f72-a847-fc4578d4ce55" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/kareem-hunt-shoves-kicks-woman-video-hotel-dispute-2018-11?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> Kareem Hunt shoving and kicking a woman </a> during an off-season altercation in Cleveland, Ohio.

The incident resulted in more than just Hunt's likely expulsion from the NFL as questions emerge regarding the league's mishandling of <a id="ba5a8a0c-36cd-3e88-a266-5faca7d7362a" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/adam-schefter-ray-rice-2014-9?utm_source=intl&amp;utm_medium=ingest"> yet another violent assault case </a> involving a player.

The Chiefs promptly released the Pro Bowler after they claimed Hunt lied during the team's investigation into the incident, which took place back in February. In an interview with ESPN's Lisa Salters, Hunt apologized for his actions before confirming that he had lied when the team interrogated him about the altercation.

When it came to the league itself, however, Hunt claimed that NFL officials never questioned him or asked him to discuss the incident. ESPN's Adam Schefter later confirmed that the league never sought to interrogate Hunt and failed to speak with the woman he assaulted despite multiple attempts to contact her.

Schefter also reported that the NFL and Kansas City failed to obtain the video of the incident before TMZ's Friday afternoon release.

Shortly after the video became public, the NFL placed <a id="c8341814-d108-33b4-a9f7-453fce2cdc96" href="https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1068676814204092416"> Hunt on the Commissioner's Exempt list </a> , barring him from practicing, playing, or attending games with the team. Still, <a id="1d23f404-239d-39ee-afbc-8f089109ac33" href="https://twitter.com/DanGrazianoESPN/status/1068676943204311042"> the league's reactive response </a> to the video despite having opened an investigation into the incident back in February has prompted criticism from fans, pundits, and NFL owners themselves.

Sources told Schefter that some of the most powerful men in the league were furious about the NFL's handling of the incident. Specifically, owners were "irate" that the league failed to interview Hunt after learning of the altercation.

The NFL released a statement Sunday detailing its plans to continue investigating the confrontation involving Hunt, but many, like the NFL owners, argued that the league's actions have once again come too late.

NFL owners are 'irate' that the league never spoke to Kareem Hunt while investigating a physical altercation he had with a woman

Tua Tagovailoa has taken the world of college football by storm, putting up astounding numbers in a season that many expect to culminate in a Heisman Trophy.

But the Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback seemingly walked a long road en route to Tuscaloosa.

In a widely-criticized interview with reporter Tom Rinaldi that aired on ESPN's "College Gameday" this week, Tagovailoa detailed his father's influence in making him into the dominant athlete he is today. Some of Galu Tagovailoa's behavior, however, came across less as motivational than it did abusive.

The feature began with Tua explaining that his natural instinct is to use his right hand. He continues to write and eat with his right hand to this day. But when Galu began football training with Tua at the ripe age of two years old, Galu forced his eldest son — who is famous for throwing left-handed — to switch to his non-dominant hand.

"Because I'm the only lefty in the family, I felt like 'okay, I'm gonna make my son a lefty," Galu said.

As Tua got older and began playing football at Saint Louis School in Oahu, the pressure his father placed on him to perform seemingly increased.

"If I don't perform well or I don't perform the way I'm supposed to, I'm gonna get it after," Tua said.

Rinaldi — who simply described Galu as a "demanding audience" during the feature — asked Tua for clarification.

"Just know that the belt was involved and other things were involved as well," Tua said. "And it's almost the same with school. If I don't get this grade... I'm gonna have to suffer the consequences."

Galu described running a no-nonsense household, which includes him, his wife, Diane, and their five children. He said the two most important things to the family are faith and discipline.

"He means the bible and the belt," Diane clarified.

Galu acknowledged he is tough on his son.

"He could go 15-for-15 with four touchdowns, but when he throws a pick, it's the worst game," Galu said. "It's the worst game."

Tua envisioned himself playing in the Pac-12, but when it came time to make his college decision, he did as he was taught to do and deferred to his father.

"My father is the decision maker within the family," Tua said. "Whether I wanted to go to other schools or not, my dad had the final say with where I was going."

After the segment reached its conclusion, ESPN's Desmond Howard joking compared Galu to Joe Jackson, the father of Michael Jackson and the rest of the Jackson 5 who was notorious for physically and emotionally abusing his children while managing their music careers.

Many college football fans and insiders took to social media to express their disapproval of both Galu's abusive tendencies and ESPN's positive reporting of such behavior.

One person, at least, did not seem to take issue with Galu's comments:

"There's a respect there that is almost uncommon," Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. "'My father knows best, he wants what's best for me, and I'm always going to respect and listen to what he has to say.'"

Atlanta United has shocked the world.

In just its second season with an MLS franchise, Atlanta has pieced together a sensational season that has catapulted United to the MLS Cup final and attracted one of the most active fan bases in all of American professional sports.

United took down the New York Redbulls in the Eastern Conference final with a 3-1 aggregate advantage through two games in order to clinch a bid to the MLS Cup final. United faithful have come out in full-force since the team's inception, prompting Atlanta to set the MLS record for attendance at home games in its inaugural season before resetting that record with 53,002 spectators at home games in 2018. But United fans found a way to dial it up from there. WhenUnited hosted Leg 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinal against New York City FC, Atlanta fans nearly filled Mercedes-Benz Stadium to capacity en route to setting the all-time MLS record for attendance at a playoff game with 70,526 spectators in attendance.

It's no surprise that United faithful have come out in droves to support their team. Atlanta clocked in just behind the Red Bulls in league standings with a 21-7-6 record on the season. United netted a league-high 70 goals thanks in large part to star forward Josef Martinez, who set the MLS single-season scoring record with 31 goals through 34 games and broke the league record for combined MLS regular season and playoffs goals in the team's home contest against the Red Bulls.

Martinez and the rest of Atlanta's high-octane offense will look to carry that momentum into the MLS Cup Final against the Portland Timbers December 8. After the 2016 season came to an end, the NFL decided to relax league rules surrounding excessive and group celebrations, allowing teams and players to get creative with their post-touchdown performances.

"Big FACTS!" James said. "Love Coach K!! The absolute BEST! Hope he's still at the helm when my boy comes up."

Krzyzewski coached the United States men's national basketball team for 12 years and guided James-led teams to two Olympic gold medals in that span. James has also heaped praise onto the legendary college basketball coach in the past, so the four-time NBA MVP's interest in sending Bronny to learn the game under Krzyzewski's tutelage doesn't come as much of a shock.

This wouldn't be the first time the Blue Devils welcomed the son of an NBA great into their ranks. Justin Robinson — the son of San Antonio Spurs legend David Robinson — is currently a junior forward at Duke. Current Los Angeles Clippers head coach and former NBA point guard Doc Rivers also sent his son, Austin Rivers, to play for Coach K in Durham. Austin only stayed with the program for one season before going pro, but he still managed to secure his legacy in the greatest rivalry in college basketball.
