Datally is this badass brand new app Google announced on the 30th of November, that will help Nigerians save data usage on their phones. In fact, it can help users save up to 30% of their data, in fact.

The Datally app is going to be able to run on any version of Android later than Android 5.0. and it will only be available for Android users on the Play Store. globally, today. This app was built, first with emerging markets like Nigeria in mind, and might perhaps be eventually useful for foreign markets.

When you ask the majority of internet users in Nigeria about their biggest problem with connectivity, you’ll probably hear stuff like “Oh it’s so confusing”; “I seriously don’t know how to control data usage properly”; “ït’s too expensive’; “to be honest, it’s never enough”.

This problem of data usage for Nigerians, and many people all over the world, is what inspired this app that has been two years in the making.

This app can also alert users of the app when they start consuming a lot of data, even allowing them see how much data they’ve used on a daily, weekly, and even monthly basis.

Because life is about opportunities and how we take them, this app lets you find Wi-Fis in your vicinity. In fact, you can actually rate a connection on whether it’s good or trash, so you can save the next person trying to connect all the trouble. This is Juliet Ehimuan-Chiazor, she’s Google Nigeria’ Country Director and she had this to say at the launch:“For the last few years, our Next Billion Users team has been doing a lot of research on the ground in fast growing Internet countries like Nigeria, We have found that data is a major constraint for the the next billion users. Introducing Datally into the Nigerian smartphone market will help users understand how to control their mobile data better”.She also shared some insights about how this app was tested.

“Google tested Datally in the Philippines for most of 2017, and the insights from the product tests thereshaped the final app. The user research showed that people testing the app saved up to 30% of theirmobile data, depending on the way they used Datally.” she concluded.

What are the likelihoods of success for this app?

On a scale of 0–10, I see a 9 (No 10/10, because Nigerian lecturer syndrome). This app solves a fundamental problem, and simply creates a very efficient way to solve this problem; data. Will the Telcos be happy that we can finally track the data we pay for? We don’t care. As long as the user wins.

So by the time you’re studying, your note is not only better than everybody else’s note in class, it’s probably richer than the lecturer’s handout or whatever it is he wants to share.

Yep. You read that right. No more Maths and English. Physics and Chemistry, at least not in the form we know it.

The head of the Department of Education in Helsinki, Marjo Kyllonen, said:

“There are schools that are teaching in the old-fashioned way which was of benefit in the beginning of the 1900s — but the needs are not the same, and we need something fit for the 21st century.“

Instead of the normal individual subjects, it'll be more multi-discplinary. So, say you're teaching the history of Agriculture in Nigeria, you're teaching the geography of it, chemistry, mathematics, physics. More context, less abstract.

What that means is that you'll never have to say things in class like,

This education system will first be introduced to 16-year-olds. This will make students choose more independently what their future ambitions are.

That's not all. Students won't sit in the classroom formats. They will now sit in discussion group formats, where everyone is basically bouncing ideas off each other and solving problems head on.

What's Finland doing to prepare for this?

About 70% of the teachers in the country's capital, Helsinki are already going through preparatory training for this system. Teachers involved in this will also get a salary raise because of this.

No, not yet. Not next year. Or next two years. Or even in the next 10 years.

Finland didn't arrive at the point they are right now; they reached this stage following a series of reforms and evolution.

Nigeria hasn't even set out on that path of reform yet.

Bill Cosby, 78, has filed a defamation suit against Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz, Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis and Angela Leslie, according to his lawyer Monique Pressley.

In the suit, the actor claims the women made "malicious, opportunistic and false and defamatory accusations of sexual misconduct against him." He also claims each defendant "knowingly published false statements and accusations."

Huth's attorney Gloria Allred told The Huffington Post in a statement reagrding the countersuit:

"Bill Cosby appears to be going to war against women who have sued him in Massachusetts  and who allege that he has victimized them. Although I do not represent the women in that  case, I do believe that in general that such a tactic will not deter courageous women from fighting the battle against him.”

The defendants named in Cosby's countersuit are just a few of the more than 50 women who have come forward with allegations of sexual assault or misconduct that span the last 30 years.

Following rumours that Nigerian singer Davido is about to father another child, the Tanzanian model, Agnes Masogange, has come out to clear the air on the issue.

Agnes had deleted photos she posted on Instagram indicating she was carrying the singer's baby. She then quickly followed it with a photo of her with who she's claiming to be her baby daddy.

Declan Rooney is a one-man babymaking machine by his own right.

The 43-year-old is on a crusade to help women struggling to have children. In 2015 alone, Declan has engineered 31 births after setting up an online sperm donation website last year.Now he has taken it a notch higher.

He has a smartphone app offering his services as a private donor and a free alternative to clinics. And with 15 more babies on the way, he has no plans of slowing down, despite causing uproar among family campaigners.Declan, – who has eight children of his own with four different women – hit back at critics of unregulated sperm donation, insisting in his case that everything is above board.Looking exasperated while nursing the result of one of his donations, Declan said:

“I’m a nice guy. Why can’t people understand I am just doing this to help out? Egg donors get treated like saints, sperm donors get treated like back alley, smutty boys. But I’m not doing a bad thing. I’m not ashamed. I have helped women create families.

I have seen five of the children in the past month because I have been donating for siblings."

The former graffiti artist and website designer insists he imposes strict conditions on his services, which includes no sexual contact and banning women from smoking while they are trying to conceive. He also checks potential parents out to make sure they can afford a child.According to UK Mirror, Declan decided to start donating sperm in March last year.He said:

“There wasn’t a eureka moment. I just felt as I was in the right place and time of my life.

It’s not really on an industrial scale. The first children were born last December and will be one this month.

All of the recipients keep in touch. All the babies are healthy and happy. I have a watchful eye. They send me feedback and tell me how the children are doing.”

He knows that 17 of the 31 children born so far are boys and 14 are girls. After setting up his website, the requests soon started rolling in.

“I’ve been inundated from the start. There were women who had been trying to have a baby for three or four years so it was very busy to begin with.

I have helped people who have been to clinics where it’s failed, and it has worked first time with me. There are more babies born in the UK by private donation than through private clinics."

Declan usually insists the recipients provide their own sterile sample kits. He says some of his clients simply want a baby without involving a man.

“One was a victim of abuse. She was desperate to be a mum but adamant she never wanted a sexual relationship. Another was in her early 40s caring alone for elderly parents. A sperm donor was her only way of getting pregnant as she had no time to meet a man."

Declan’s current partner knows about his donations and he says she is OK with what he is doing.But he adds:

"My eldest child isn’t too happy about it, but she found out before I was able to tell her. Two of my children are at university. The others are too young to understand. I’m a nice person."

Two of the women who have had children with Declan are already trying to get pregnant again. And five of his donor babies have met each other because the mums are friends.He says: “I have got things in place where everyone knows who everyone is, but privacy is still respected. I don’t pressurise people into telling me they are pregnant.The prolific dad has a three-year-old boy, a two-year-old daughter and a year-old girl from his current relationship. He is also aware that children conceived using donor eggs or sperm can trace their biological parent once they reach 18, in the same way as children who are adopted.One thing Declan is not concerned about is being stitched up by the mums he vets so carefully.“I’m not worried about CSA claims because of the people I’ve chosen to help. It’s all done on trust. I don’t expect any problems,” he says

Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has reduced its record fine on MTN to $3.4 billion dollars shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari met with South Africa's President Jacob Zuma.

It was gathered that after further engagements with the Nigerian Authorities, the NCC has reduced the imposed fine.

In a statement released for the company, it was gathered that MTN received a formal letter dated 2 December 2015 from the NCC informing the Company that, after considering the Company’s request, it had taken the decision to reduce the fine on MTN from the original N1,040,000,000,000 (One Trillion, Forty Billion Naira) to N674 Billion Naira which has to be paid by 31 December 2015. The fine relates to the late disconnecting of 5.1 million MTN Nigerian subscribers in August and September 2015.

The Company is carefully considering the NCC’s reply. However, the Executive Chairman Phuthuma Nhleko will immediately and urgently re-engage with the Nigerian Authorities before responding formally.

This is because it is essential for the Company to follow due process to ensure the best outcome for the Company, its stakeholders and the Nigerian Authorities and accordingly all factors having a bearing on the situation will be thoroughly and carefully considered before the Company arrives at a final decision.

Shareholders are therefore advised to continue to exercise caution when dealing in the Company’s securities until a further announcement is made.

Tiwatope, who welcomed her son with husband Tunji Balogun aka Tee Billz on July 22, 2015, in the UK, revealed that if it was up to her, she would share her son’s face but her husband would not allow it.

The 35-year-old went on about how she first reacted when her baby arrived:

“I’m going to be as candid as I can be and Genevieve is the only press I’ve ever told. They say you bond instantly with your baby but I didn’t have that instant connection. I was in a 20-hour labour and just when I was about to push him out, his heart rate dropped, so there was a lot of panic in the room and we were all in tears. Then, when he eventually came out, everyone screamed ‘congratulations’ and they had to put him on my chest to bond. Instead, when they did, I said ‘he is beautiful, but can I sleep for just one hour?"

“Thereafter, I was so overwhelmed, that for a week after delivery, I would cry every day. And I don’t know why that happened. The midwives thought I was suffering from depression but I guess a lot of first-time mums have felt that way. I think it is the overwhelming feeling of being responsible for another human being. Now, life is no longer a joke. I cannot do just anything I want. Yet, on the other hand, I am very protective of him. Being a mother has made me like a lioness, and I’m ready to bite anyone’s head off over him”.

Musa Mohamed, a 45-year-old security guard, has been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court judge Magistrate O. A Ogunbowale, for allegedly raping a 15-year-old boy

He is currently facing a two -count charge of assault and rape.

The prosecutor, Inspector Asu Feddy said that the security man who resides on Glover Road,  Ikoyi committed the alleged crime on November 9, 2015, at 4:10p.m.

However when the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate consequently ordered that the defendant should be remanded in prison pending more investigation.The case was adjourned to December 9, for review of facts and sentencing.
