Reacting to this development, Ololade Ajayi, the operator of an NGO dedicated to combating gender-based violence, expressed deep concern over potential delays in the prosecution of the case. He highlighted the challenges faced in coordinating with the Police Gender Unit to expedite the legal process.

"Since the case was transferred to the Gender Unit, there's been a lack of progress. I've offered assistance to the family, but the unit's response has been inconsistent," Ajayi stated.

The Idimu Police Division confirmed the case referral to the Gender Unit, directing further inquiries to the specialized department. This disturbing incident echoes a similar case from July 2024, where a teacher was sentenced to life imprisonment for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old student.

The incident took place when the victims, traveling in a red 2010 Toyota Camry, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a road divider along Governor’s Road, Alausa, Ikeja.

Instead of assisting the injured, the three suspects were reportedly seen ransacking the car and stealing from the victims.

Among the stolen items were two iPhones: a 15 model, valued at N1,300,000, and a 12 model, worth N620,000.

The RRS operatives, who were patrolling the area at the time, were alerted to the theft by a tip-off and quickly responded to the scene. Upon arresting the suspects, the stolen phones were recovered from their possession.

In addition to apprehending the thieves, the RRS officers also assisted the victims by taking them to the hospital and removing the damaged vehicle from the road to clear traffic.

The suspects have reportedly made full confessions about their involvement in the crime. They are scheduled to be charged in court as per the instructions of the Commander of the RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye.

The quick response from the RRS has, however, been praised for preventing further harm and swiftly addressing the crime.

According to a relative who shared details of the incident on social media, the young man was stopped by a group of five armed policemen at a checkpoint in the area around 7 p.m. They reportedly accused him of being involved in an online fraud scheme, commonly referred to as “Yahoo Yahoo,” and demanded a bribe of ₦200,000 to avoid further punishment.

Sensing danger, the victim attempted to flee, but in the chaos, he was chased by the officers and fell into a nearby ditch.

As he struggled to escape, the police allegedly fired shots at him, leaving him wounded and abandoned in the ditch when they believed he was dead.

The victim's relative described the traumatic events on social media, noting that although the bullet missed him, the young man suffered a serious leg fracture and was bleeding from the injuries sustained during the fall.

“They shot him, broke his leg, and left him for dead," the relative wrote. "All we hear from the police is, 'Thank God he's alive.'"

The post included an image of the victim's X-ray, which showed the extent of the leg fracture, and his hospital bed, where he remained under medical care.

The relative also expressed frustration over the police's lack of accountability, saying efforts to report the incident had been dismissed with indifference.

While doctors have not yet confirmed the full extent of his injuries, there are concerns that the young man may never walk again due to the severity of the leg fracture.

In a separate online comment, the relative, known as DrLove, condemned the police's actions, calling attention to the widespread issue of police corruption and violence.

"They accused him of a crime he didn't commit, extorted him for N200,000, and almost left him to die," DrLove wrote. "How many others are suffering in silence? How did we get to this point where young lives are at risk every day because of corrupt police officers?"

DrLove also questioned why the police force continues to be involved in such incidents despite the existence of other armed forces in the country, like the military.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further questioning.

“The deceased’s brother reported that his sister died after childbirth in the church. The prophetess has been arrested and investigations are ongoing,” Odunlami said.

A family source, who requested anonymity, shared further details about the incident.

According to the source, a call from someone at the church informed the woman's husband that his wife had given birth. The husband then contacted a relative, and both rushed to the church.

Upon arrival, they were told that the baby had died, but that the mother was still alive. However, when they saw Adesuwa, she was bleeding heavily. They immediately took her to a nearby hospital, but she was turned away from three medical facilities. She eventually died while being attended to at the fourth hospital.

When the family went back to the church to collect the baby’s body, they found the newborn in a room that seemed unfit for delivery. The room’s condition raised further concerns.

Disturbed by the situation, they filed a report at the Oke-Aro Police Station in Akure, which led to the prophetess's arrest.

The woman’s body has since been transferred to the mortuary.

A trader who identified herself as Ganiyat Enitan, who operates a shop nearby, said she and others had found him there since Friday morning.

According to her, the man was spotted scaling a fence at midnight, which prompted residents to chase him. He tried to cross to the other side of the road but was hit by a vehicle.

Upon closer inspection, it was observed that the man was still breathing, with his legs moving intermittently.

Another witness, who identified himself as Sesan, mentioned that the victim had initially been lying on the bridge's walkway before rolling into the main road.

While the man lay injured, a few officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) placed a tire nearby to warn oncoming vehicles.

However, Saheed Adekunle, a transport worker, expressed concern about the man’s safety and urged the state government to remove him from the area.

"If he stays here much longer, he’ll be crushed by a vehicle," he said, highlighting the danger posed by the large trucks that frequently pass through the area.

The doctor testified that the victim was brought to the hospital three days after the incident, still bleeding profusely.

A thorough examination revealed severe internal injuries, including bruising and the absence of the hymen, a clear indication of forceful penetration.

“The general observation was that there was no show of pain, the hymen was missing, the sanitary pad she came with was already soaked in blood and her pants as well.

“Penetration into the vagina can cause the hymen to be missing, forcefully putting a hand into the vagina can cause bruises and the hymen missing,” the witness was quoted as saying.

The defense counsel, Mandy Asagba, questioned the doctor about the timeline of the examination, which took place three or four days after the alleged assault on April 22, 2022.

When asked about the specific injuries observed, Dr. Onovore explained that the vaginal entrance was bruised.

She emphasised that while there's no standard appearance for rape victims, the vaginal area often exhibits specific signs.

The severity of these signs, according to the doctor, could vary depending on factors like the victim's age and the duration of the assault.

In the case of the 10-year-old victim, the doctor noted significant trauma.

The victim recounted a terrifying ordeal. She stated that Olaide, a neighbour, tricked her into an abandoned building, where he forcefully gagged her and sexually assaulted her.

The incident took place on April 19, 2022, in the Epe area of Lagos State.

The Lagos State Government charged Olaide with unlawful sexual intercourse with a child, an offense punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The trial is currently underway before Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court.

Doctor narrates how 10-year-old rape victim bled 3 days after incident

<h2>One Omolara Alashe has allegedly forced a 19-year-old girl, whose identity could not be disclosed on ethical grounds, into sleeping with her husband to bear children. </h2>

This revelation was made by an Investigating Police Officer (IPO), Elizabeth Osikolu.

The woman, and her husband, Ramoni Lateef, are standing trial bordering on conspiracy, rape, sexual assault, and stealing, preferred against them by the Lagos State Government.

It was gathered that the incident happened at Ketu where they relocated after their former house in Ojota was sold.

Osikolu told an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court that the mother of the survivor died while they were living in Ojota and the couple offered to accommodate her.

The IPO said that while living with them, the survivor said the couple “always abused her physically whenever she made mistakes.”

She said at other times, “The first defendant would also wake her up at midnight and strip her naked and the second defendant would have sexual intercourse with her without her consent.

“The first defendant (Omolara) wakes her up in the middle of the night, strips her naked while her husband sleeps with her (survivor).”

She said they were in the sitting room one day “when the first defendant suddenly started beating her up, stripped her naked, and inserted her fingers in her vagina without her consent.

“After she was done, she threw out her belongings and seized her ATM card and MTN line and the salary she was making at the time to deny her access to her money”, adding that the last incident was on March 24, 2023.

The IPO further told the court that her investigation also revealed that the couple had a baby who died in October 2022.

She said since then, the first defendant had not been able to conceive again.

“So, they decided that instead of the second defendant getting married again, they would use the survivor to bear children for him.”

Under cross-examination by defence counsel Lekan Egberongbe, the IPO maintained that the survivor was not lying, adding that the first defendant admitted it in her statement.

She told the court that if the survivor consented to the sexual assault, she would not have reported to the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, nor submitted herself to medical examination at Mirabel Centre.

The witness insisted that the survivor couldn’t resist the woman’s husband because she was intimidated by his wife.

However, after hearing the IPO's testimony, Justice Oshodi adjourned the case to Monday, February 3, 2025, for the continuation of the trial.

<h2>A lady, whose identity was yet to be disclosed, has accused one Pastor Samuel Ajinde, of multiple rape incidents.</h2>

The lady, whose family had now petitioned the Ijebu Ode Area Command of the Ogun State Police Command to demand justice, revealed that Ajinde raped her and had abortions for her multiple times at his private hospital.

The victim narrated that the incident began when her mum directed her to meet with Ajinde, who was also her pastor, sometime in 2020 over a back pain she was experiencing at the time. She said that upon her visit to Ajinde’s office, the cleric carried out some checks on her and in the process had sexual intercourse with her.

She explained further that the cleric allegedly threatened her not to inform her mother and if she did, he would kill her.

According to the victim, the sexual assault persisted leading to several pregnancies which were allegedly aborted by the cleric.

The petition read, “Sometime in 2020, I went to Samuel’s office for a medical check-up. I was 18 years as of the time. Samuel is a doctor and also our spiritual father, he owned a church at Awokoya. I was having back pains and Samuel asked me to come for a check-up, which I did.

“He asked me to lie down and started pressing my body and eventually had carnal knowledge of me. He asked me not to tell my mother that the Holy Spirit told him that by sleeping with me all the back pains would go away.

“He had been sleeping with me since then, and he has aborted seven pregnancies for me by himself.”

She continued that the issue became messy in 2023 when she became pregnant with Ajinde and he insisted that she aborted the pregnancy which she refused and delivered a boy.

The lady alleged that the cleric had since resorted to threatening to kill her and her baby which prompted her to seek justice.

“In July 2023, I was pregnant again and he asked me to abort it. I refused and kept the pregnancy and eventually had a baby boy for him. He has been threatening to kill me and my son and also threatening to kill my mother.

“He also asked some of his church members to defame me by posting my son and my picture on TikTok. I have tried to commit suicide several times. I was also a virgin when I met him. Sir, I want you to use your good offices to intervene in this matter,” the petition noted.

Also speaking on the matter, the victim’s sister, Tomiwa Adeboye said every effort made by the family to ensure that the cleric took responsibility for his actions proved abortive, alleging that the cleric had rather resorted to threats and blackmail.

She, therefore, urged the police to ensure justice is served.

A lady, whose identity was yet to be disclosed, has accused one Pastor Samuel Ajinde, of multiple rape incidents.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 when Blessing, a hair stylist, was boiling water in an electric kettle to prepare for a customer's hair treatment.

As she went to retrieve the kettle from her compound on Azikiwe Street, Ejike's son accidentally collided with her, causing some of the hot water to splash onto the boy's leg.

Eyewitnesses reported that while Blessing was trying to comfort the child, Ejike emerged from his home to inquire about the situation.

Allegedly, after hearing the neighbours explain what had happened, he reached for the kettle and poured its contents over Blessing's chest, with some splashing onto her face.

Following the attack, Ejike fled the scene.

Blessing was subsequently taken to the Azikiwe Police Division, where she received a medical form before being hospitalized for her injuries.

Blessing's family is now demanding justice, condemning Ejike's actions.

Her brother, Goodluck Nwankwo, stated, “We want the police to ensure that he is arrested. It’s unacceptable, and I will pursue this matter to ensure justice is served.”

He added that while Blessing is recovering, the medical expenses are substantial, and he may need to return to Anambra State to raise additional funds.

The police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed that Ejike has been arrested and that Blessing is receiving medical care for her severe burns.

The Nigeria Police have arrested a man named Ejike for allegedly pouring hot water on his neighbour, a 31-year-old woman identified as Blessing, in the Mile 2 area of Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

<h2>The Enugu State Police have detained Enuwa Odugu, a local native doctor, along with Uwakwe Eze, the father of Chikwado Eze, a 26-year-old man who tragically died during a ritual intended to fortify him before an overseas trip.</h2>

The incident took place in Ugbaike, Enugu Ezike, within the Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area last week.

Chikwado had recently received a visa to travel abroad and returned home to share the news with his father, who insisted on performing a fortification ritual for his son’s success.

Odugu allegedly instructed that Chikwado be buried alive for one hour and 30 minutes as part of the ritual. Unfortunately, when he was exhumed after the time elapsed, he was found unresponsive.

Enugu Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Daniel Ndukwe confirmed the arrests, stating that both Odugu, 48, and Uwakwe Eze, 67, are being charged with conspiracy and murder.

Ndukwe's statement outlined that the father took his son to the native doctor's shrine for the ritual, where the fatal incident occurred.

“The incident is alleged to have occurred when Uwakwe Eze took his son to the native doctor’s shrine for rituals intended to fortify him with charms. However, during the ritual, the deceased was buried in a coffin but he unfortunately died in the process,” the police spokesperson was quoted as saying.

After the ritual, Chikwado was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead by medical personnel. His body has been placed in a mortuary for preservation and an autopsy.

According to Ndukwe, the native doctor confessed to the incident and mentioned previous similar rituals, attributing the death to Chikwado's failure to follow specific ritual guidelines he had provided.

The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face charges in court once the inquiry is complete.

She described how Kolawole burst into the classroom demanding to see his son, becoming aggressive when informed the child was downstairs.

Paul stated, “He just started hitting me, and others had to step in to pull him away. I’ve been experiencing persistent pain and coughing since then.”

Ogri, who has worked at the school for four years, detailed how the conflict began.

According to her, on Tuesday, October 8, one of Kolawole’s children had complained of feeling unwell, prompting Ogri to administer basic first aid.

She closed the windows and turned off the fan to help the child feel warmer, but Kolawole later accused her of using a substance for nefarious purposes.

Despite her explanations, Ogri was pressured to sign a document assuring the parents that her actions were innocent.

Eventually, she agreed to sign for peace’s sake, but the situation escalated, resulting in police involvement after Kolawole's aggressive behavior.

Attempts to reach Kolawole for comment were unsuccessful, as he could not be found at his residence.

The police confirmed they were investigating the matter, with reports indicating that Kolawole had been charged with physical assault.
