Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos has strongly denied rumours that he has been living at the club’s training facility, Valdebebas, following his divorce from Mariana Luccon, his wife of 15 years.

The Brazilian icon, renowned for his legendary career with the Spanish giants, was reportedly staying at the training ground after separating from Luccon. The couple, who married in 2009, share two daughters, Manuela and Mariana. It was claimed that Luccon remained in the family home while her parents stayed at another of Carlos’ properties.

The divorce has reportedly been complicated by Carlos’ substantial wealth, estimated at £133 million ($166 million).

Carlos took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to address the rumours, calling them "false and damaging." He criticised the stories as an attempt to invade his privacy and generate clicks at his expense.

In recent days, I have become aware of false and damaging stories circulating about me and my family. While I value privacy, I feel compelled to address the baseless rumours about my living situation.

Request for privacy

He also expressed his gratitude for the support of his fans and concluded by requesting privacy during this difficult time, urging people to respect his family’s need for space as they navigate the situation.

Carlos had an incredible 11-year career with Real Madrid and is regarded as one of the best left-backs in football history. He was instrumental in the team's success during this time, helping them win four La Liga titles and three Champions League titles.
