Akufo-Addo nominates Prof. Peter Twumasi for NSA top job

Prof. Twumasi is a learned man, having has his higher education in both Ghana and the Netherlands.

Prof. Peter Twumasi is set to become the next Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) after he was nominated for the position by President Akufo-Addo.

His nomination was announced Wednesday via a statement signed by Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah.

The NSA has been without a substantive Director-General for some months now following the suspension of Robert Sarfo Mensah.

Mr. Mensah was susp ended after he was implicated in Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ “Number 12” exposé.

The position was subsequently handed to Majeed Bawa, who has since been operating in an acting capacity.

The Sports Minister’s statement said all governmental procedures will be used to make Prof. Twumasi’s appointment regular in line with the laws of the land.

He serves as the head of the Biochemistry Department of the KNUST’s College of Science and he specialises in plant sciences.

He is, however, not a known figure when it comes to sports in the country.
