The Ghana Armed Forces has warned that recruits personnel without the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be sacked.
According to the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Armed Forces, Col. E. Aggrey-Quarshie, potential recruits should have 6 credits at BECE including English and Mathematics, and five credits at the SSSCE including core English and core Mathematics.
He said "If you’re an applicant and you don’t have BECE but you possess professional advance certificate you’re out, you need to get your BECE, that is basic and more important than the rest of the qualifications."
Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Kasapa FM, he said candidates who are married will not be enlisted.
Col. E. Aggrey-Quarshie indicated that "For the recruits you shouldn’t be married, you must have a clear mind for the training ahead and shouldn’t be distracted. Even in the Bible when Gideon was going to war, all those newly married in his army were asked to go home, if you’re on the battle field and things are tough, you may begin to think about your newly wedded spouse and not be focused."
