Impact Concepts and Solutions Limited (ICS Africa), a pan-African event management company in partnership with Top Rating and Ranking Company, Avance Media, has officially unveiled its prestigious Top 50 NGOs in Africa for 2024 list.

The list recognizes the outstanding contributions of organizations driving impactful changes across the continent. These NGOs have demonstrated exemplary leadership, innovation, and dedication in addressing Africa’s most pressing challenges across diverse sectors, including healthcare, education, human rights, environmental sustainability, youth development, poverty alleviation and economic empowerment.

This list includes renowned organizations making a difference at local, national, and international levels. They have also contributed a significant number of finances and expertise to ensure growth and development in various sectors on the continent.

These NGOs have established themselves as pacesetters whose initiatives and support have changed the lives of millions of people.

The 2024 list includes some notable organizations that have retained their spots from 2022 - Greenpeace Africa, Tony Elumelu Foundation, West Africa AIDS Foundation (WAAF), Merck Foundation, GIZ, CAMFED, Mastercard Foundation, OXFAM, AMREF, Doctors Without Borders, Amnesty International, Ford Foundation, and Action Aid.

The Dangote Foundation, BUA Foundation, YIAGA Africa, International Justice Mission, UNFP, Earth Care Ghana, and Africa Women Development Fund are some of the new entrants on the 2024 list.

The full list highlights the incredible diversity and reach of African NGOs, including organizations addressing critical needs in healthcare, such as Doctors Without Borders, Amref Health Africa, and Compassion International; promoting education, like CAMFED and Mastercard Foundation; and advocating for social justice, like Oxfam and Action Aid.

In a statement to the press following the unveiling of the 2024 list, the CEO of ICS Africa, Emmaline Datey, applauded the honourees whose focus has been on youth development and efforts to alleviate poverty in some of Africa’s poorest countries.

Emmaline Datey stressed the need for more focus on agriculture to minimize youth unemployment in Africa.

"The impact of NGOs in 2024 on youth development and poverty alleviation was very impressive. Noble projects on upskilling the youth, business support in terms of funding and capacity building, exposure to certain networks for global opportunities, providing scholarships and job opportunities emerged and were executed satisfactorily. Indeed, these areas of impact have had a positive effect on the quality of the lives of our African youth,” Emmaline Datey said.

“Despite the incredible efforts of Top NGOs in Africa, I believe we can have more impact in the Agric sector. This sector can minimize youth unemployment in Africa. This will help reduce the level of idleness amongst our youth, minimize vices the youth engage in, and give them more reasons to take on opportunities in Agriculture,” she added.

ICS Africa’s inaugural list of Top 50 NGOs in Africa was compiled and published in March 2020 to highlight the influence of NGOs at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. The 2022 list was launched in September to commemorate World Charity Day.

The Top 50 NGOs in Africa 2024, premised on the theme of youth development and poverty alleviation, is positioned to promote and recognize stakeholders’ engagement in projects that empower young Africans for the further advancement of the African Economy.

Africa’s leading PR, rating, and research organization, Avance Media, have been partners since the first compilation.
