If you mainly associate Zac Efron with High School Musical, that's about to change-big time-on May 3. That's the date Netflix has (finally) announced it'll be releasing its highly-anticipated Ted Bundy film, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.

The dramatic retelling of the life and crimes of the infamous serial killer first debuted at the Sundance Film Festival this year, where it was bought by Netflix for $9 million (casual), according to The Hollywood Reporter . Ever since, people have been waiting not-so-patiently for the movie to hit the streaming site, so hey, what's another month, right?

The film will also open in select theaters, per Variety , so (it's believed) Zac will have a better shot of snagging an Oscar nom for his performance come awards season. If his portrayal of Ted Bundy in the new trailer Netflix that also dropped today is any indication, he's definitely got a shot.

He barely speaks in it, sure, but I'm already hooked. And not just because he still looks good portraying a serial killer (which, btw, isn't the same as saying a serial killer is hot-don't @ me). The new trailer sheds an interesting light on Bundy's relationship with his girlfriend Liz Kendall and conveys the significance of his case being the first nationally televised murder trial.

Besides Zac, Netlflix users can look forward to seeing Golden Globe nominee Lily Collins play Liz Kendall. And Big Bang Theory fans can peep Jim Parsons as prosecutor Larry Simpson.

Though some have criticized the film for glorifying Ted Bundy and his murders, others disagree. (You'll get to decide for yourself soon enough.) Either way, one thing's for sure: the film's stellar cast and compelling story make it worth the watch.
