In it, Hilary is sitting in a mini, inflatable pool, which means she had a water birth with Banks. Shes holding the tiny newborn to her chest, while her boyfriend, Matthew Koma , sits at her side outside the pool. The crazy part comes when Banks reaches both her arms out toward her mom for a hug. Hilary leans down and they share their first mom-daughter embrace. You can hear people in the video exclaiming how wild it is that the newborn was able to reach out to her mom only moments after her birth.
View this post on Instagram Ive been wondering for a long time if I would ever share this video as it is extremely personal.... it was so absolutely lovely and rewarding(and shocking) that after giving birth to my baby girl we hugged ...for the first time, In my mind I like to believe that she was saying good job mom. Go team go. We did it. Together. Matt provided such a safe calm strength, my mommy and sissy were there to cheer me on, and of course my birth angels to make sure all was well and big brother (downstairs deep in legos). I cannot believe this day was only 5 months ago!! It seems like B has been here with us all along. The time is already going so fast..she tried avocado yesterday! Anyway... feeling blessed for this full hectic life and all the people in it. Happy 5 months Banks (oh and thanks for quitting colic) that was a doozy ( @rebeccacoursey_photosandfilm ) A post shared by Hilary Duff (@hilaryduff) on Mar 25, 2019 at 10:10am PDT

She went on to say that Matt provided a calm strength throughout the birth, that her mom and sister Hayley were there to cheer her on, and that her first child, Luca, 7, was downstairs playing with Legos during the birth.

Hilary didnt give any details about why she chose to have a water birth at home, but some moms choose this option as it offers a warm bath environment for labor. The heated water may also increase circulation, making contractions more efficient, according to the American Pregnancy Association .
In this video, it certainly looks like a magical birth experience. In the caption, Hilary said time has been flying since that day. I cannot believe this day was only 5 months ago!! Its good to hear the new mom and baby are doing so well and enjoying the first few months! That hug was a great way to kick off their bond.
